Secrets, ley lines, and love.
I've been back home for a few weeks now, and things are complicated. I've talked to Salem about not falling into a well-worn groove now that he has most of his life to live over, scar-free. And that might actually stick. I later blew up at him after Ghost showed up at the farmhouse and nearly had Silvertip frenzy on her. SEATAC ASTRONOMY: too many secrets. Ghost may be the only thing that can resolve this situation with The Nothing, and unless other people know that, we might have someone accidentally kill her--thus dooming the universe. I kind of flew off the handle over this situation. I'm not proud of it. In hindsight, it was stupid yelling at a pair of garou to their faces. But maybe--just maybe--the ball has been put into motion.
I later talked with Ghost and apologized. She told me SIlvertip took her to the caern and talked with an Uktena spirit. There's talk of taking her to points of origin: where she rited or where she had cybernetics done to her or where she was born. I wonder if one of her parents was one of those wolf-rat-hyena-porcupine things that seem to serve The Nothing? I sent word to Salem and Silvertip that I want to be included on that trip. I might be able to look into the past and better see what transpired, and I've got a Winnebago for road trips.
With my newly acquired skills working with the Prime sphere, I've got the idea of re-establishing the ley lines that Nightfall Chantry once had. Every node in the area was linked directly to the chantry, with the exception of the caern itself. Unfortunately, a couple of those nodes have died since then. It's interesting, and unusual, that all the remaining local nodes are Spirit-based. That's a very odd coincidence--or not a coincidence at all. It could go either way. But I digress. I'm thinking about putting in new ley lines that redirect surplus tass to my cabin. It's certainly no Nightfall Chantry, but.... It's something. And with the way my name seems to be spreading among other mages in the region, I expect I'll have to occasionally host a guest or three. As such, I think rather than using a traditional, straight ley line, I'll weave in some Correspondence magick that misdirects people who attempt to follow the ley lines. Portals. Like the game. The lines will simply disappear and be difficult for someone with insufficient Correspondence knowledge to follow. I'm going to need to talk to Mouse and probably Jacinta before I touch Harbor Park, the Earthen Bowl, or the Lonely Boulder nodes, but the Osprey Circle node is no problem. And I can also tap that distant node at that Corax-watched glade Val told me about, but I likely need to talk to her about that rather than just doing it without permission or their knowledge. Gah. I hate doing anything in front of the Corax. I know those secrets get passed around with my name likely attached to them. One day, I suspect it's going to bite me in the ass.
While examining how to best go about installing my first ley line at the node in the Historic District (and debating the impossible logistics of buying up that piece of land as another wildly impractical solution), Felix (Gnawer, galliard, cliath) bumped into me. (I'd met him earlier at the caern when that Wyld-inspired earthquake had happened back in November.) We moved into a cafe to chat about things, and then his wife--Lilah--turned up. They look too young to be married. Yet they aren't. This reminded me that last year, at this time, I was debating whether or not to get Emma an engagement ring and decided the timing was too cheesy. Maybe it's time to stop fence-sitting?
