Nothing going on in Harbor Park today. I did meet up with Val, though. She gave me two boxes of shrooms from out in WWNP--and told me the wolves nearly got her. (She needs to watch her ass around them.) In return, I told her what I'd found out from my research. Thankfully, it's not a thaumavore and it does not have the "flavor" of a mage behind it. (It'd be a ludicrously powerful one if it was.) I told her that since she was the only one who brought me stuff to research, she was the only one I was giving the information to. Hopefully, if she's providing useful information to the garou, they'll treat her a little better in the future. I texted Mouse and Salem about talking to Val to get info, so that will get the ball rolling in the city.

The rural bumpkins, however, are on their own. Val can tell them or not depending on how they treat her.

Val, as she departed, alerted me that there's been a "fox from overseas that she didn't know much about" lurking in the park, that she seemed civil, and her name was Rajani.

Great.

Well, at least I'm pretty sure I can give Rajani the information I dug up last night if she's one of those shapeshifters. As luck would have it, Rajani entered the park right as Val left. I /look/ looked at her from afar and.... yup. Definitely not human and, although similar to the garou, she's definitely not the same thing. I went over and relayed the information she was after  to her, minus how I got some of it, and she seemed very satisfied (for a mere $100 she ought to be ecstatic) and well aware of the dangers that might be involved. I didn't feel too bad about sharing the "this could get you killed" information with her after learning she was a werefox and that Val knew about her, as she probably has connections with the Scoobies if she needs backup. Plus, just in case she was dense or stupid, I told her point blank that what I told her could get her killed if she poked around any further.

As I was going to bed last night, I had a mildly disturbing thought. Mouse said that a lot of their kinfolk can never really be traced back to having a garou in their lineage--even though it's there. And that a lot of the time they rely upon a kin simply being able to see and be aware of and not shit their pants when they turn into monsters before their eyes. (And apparently the first time doesn't count because pretty much everyone freaks out then. Like the first time I saw one of them--Cyllan--change, up in her 2nd floor apartment, I nearly leapt out the nearest window onto the cement street below. That shit is scary.) And I know from experience that I can't distinguish kin from humans--and no other mage I've known seems to be able to either. And mages can be kin, just like Dana was. So.... how the hell do I know I am /not/ kinfolk? Because I simply just don't know--and likely will never know.

Mindfuck, ahoy.
