Yesterday I was looking at some paint for the houseboat at Home Depot and, on my way out, I spotted tulip and daffodil bulbs on sale for half price. On a whim, I purchased a bag full of them. I headed over to Harbor Park and decided I'd plant them running alongside the banks above the river. They'll look nice when they come up in the spring. As I was nearly finished planting, Shelby showed up. Hadn't seen her since the coffee shop date(?)--where I had to run off on business before I figured out what was going on. I think I managed to blow it, seeing as she never called back and never gave me her number. Ah, well. Better to blow it now than later. ANYway, we were just starting to plant some bulbs together when Emma showed up with her baby in tow. And then my phone rang with a business call and I had to split.

I spent the rest of the day running ragged, trying to track down a tweenaged boy who failed to show up at St. Uriel and wasn't answering his cell phone. His dad's an investment banker and they were thinking possible kidnapping, but it turns out he just skipped school and his phone's battery was dead. He came home before I found him, timing it so it looked like he'd been in school all day. So I got the call from dad that the kid had come home and I was no longer needed. I could tell he hated forking over the $800 for services, but the guy was a real prick and  clearly well-off, so I didn't cut my rate for him. Jerk. Hope the kid doesn't grow up to be like dad.
