It took nearly a week of analysis, but it doesn't look like the data in Topsy's notebook will yield any useful data insofar as when to re-awaken the caern--the data is really only useful for much longer-term scenarios, like years (maybe), decades, or centuries. It's impossible to narrow it down to days, weeks, or even months. I might have to go on a node-tour at some point in the future to see if this resource shows where a variety of caerns are located--and if any places of power got overlooked.
The bulletproof vest seems to have been a far more productive use of my time and resources. I'm pretty sure it will be more effective at stopping bullets and other weapons, will bring the wearer a one-shot dose of luck that might mitigate some or all damage from a single blow, and might even afford some level of protection (again one-shot) against a spirit's attack. I do believe I'll be wearing this on my future trips to the umbra.
Charley dropped by while I was out and left me a bottle of veeeery pricey scotch with a card. Birthday present. He said to blame the bird. I'll bet she looked up when my birthday was at some point. (Hell, even I'd forgotten about it.) Good lord, I'm 32! Note to self: learn some Life magic at some point to slow the aging process! :) I opted to do a thorough Life scan of myself to check for anything unusual or which might be falling apart or need tending to. Apparently I'm in pretty good shape. I have to stop to admire the shifters' healing abilities, though. There's no evidence of my having nearly cut my leg off with my lightsaber (which Mouse healed for me) or the bullet wound I took in the shoulder from a Nephandi (and which Val healed for me). But I can see a little evidence left from where I broke my arm half a decade ago during SWAT training when I botched rappelling down the side of a building and washed out of that program. In hindsight, I'm kind of glad I failed there.
I popped out earlier this week to meditate at the Harbor Park node, but I ran into Val and two other garou: Viv (Get ahroun) and April (Black Fury I'd seen before back when Rina was drinking blood from a vampire in an alleyway much earlier this year). Full moon. It was a /very/ brief meeting before I excused myself. Had to shake Viv's hand: I think with the cooling weather I need to start wearing gloves again so my body heat isn't peculiar.
Need to talk with Mouse about when that trip to Mount Doom is going to happen. If there's a delay, I want to get into the umbra at least once this month. That or let Charley have a turn. As frustrating as it is having only very limited access to the umbra, it's worlds better than having no access to the umbra. Stupid moon. Get thinner faster.
