Blah blah blah Dreamspeaker! blah blah blah.

Had a nice chat about cooking with Kitty (who just passed her Rite and is now a cliath of the Children of Gaia), which apparently prompted her to gripe about how she had no friends, how she was at the bottom of the garou totem pole, and how I didn't like her. (Ah, teen drama.) I explained that while she was on the bottom of the garou totem pole, being kin made me even lower on the totem pole. So all the gripes she had about all the people above her? That and the explanation that garou do lose it from time to time. Kitty said she'd never hurt me on purpose and that if she did, she could fix me up with a healing gift. I pointed out that Flint and Salem had frenzied on one another about a month ago, Mouse went to break it up before someone got killed, and she ended up getting crippled trying to break up that fight--and healing didn't fix the damage that was done. Sometimes you can't fully repair what you break. I think she got the message, because she did admit that I was probably right to be wary of the garou. Lord, if she only knew.

Kitty also mentioned that as part of her Rite, she had to deal with a pain spirit that had attached itself to Laila, a Shadow Lord kinfolk. She brought the matter up with Ky, who got grumpy about her bringing the matter to him. The Shadow Lords either couldn't see the spirit or do anything about it, so Kitty talked to Laila and some spirits and eventually found a Stormcrow spirit that she bargained with to run the pain spirit off. I'm... really glad I'm not tied in with the Shadow Lords. If they care so little about their kin, they probably care even less about other tribes' kin--so watch your ass around them, Nick. The fact that a Child of Gaia had to bribe a Stormcrow to help out one of its own tribal members.... Sheesh, what an inconsiderate and ugly tribe. Let's stay clear of them.

I ran into Val, Riley, and May in Harbor park on Sunday morning. Riley roped me into replacing the sliding glass door at the "Greek House"--which is where the Black Furies reside. Ex is there, so I asked Riley for an escort/bodyguard. That and I'd prefer it if, for my first ever trip out there, there was a female escort with me. I know the Black Furies aren't all penis-haters (otherwise they'd have died out by now, right?), but I'd prefer not to be shit on while doing them a favor. According to Riley, there's so much pent-up rage at that place, they can't get anyone to stay long enough to fix the glass door someone shattered. I've never fixed a glass door before, but with a little reading and a little Dreaming, it shouldn't be rocket science. Had a nice talk with May afterwards as I escorted her to work at Terminus. (Working on a Sunday: she's a machine.) She's really duty-bound and competent, and probably not appreciated enough for what she does for the Shadow Lords. I got her to laugh at a penis joke, so she's not a complete robot like I initially thought.

I met up with Quin to look over the lab he's putting together and invited me to be a part of. We got to talking and things eventually worked their way back around to his grandfather in Oklahoma, who he mentioned earlier was a shaman. I did a little more prying and found out that he is apparently capable of talking to and binding spirits and.... Clearly either a Dreamspeaker or a mage with knowledge of the Spirit sphere. And apparently the garou there /respect/ him for his abilities and even send some to him for training. Interesting. Of course, very close and very obvious familial ties, too. Quin hasn't really shared this information with anyone, so I don't think I will either. I did mention to Quin how I'd be interested in meeting him someday. But how to do so without advertising who I am to a whole other flock of Oklahoma tribal reservation garou in the process? And while I wouldn't mind learning a little bit more Spirit magic, is it worth the risk? Quin seems to have /zero/ problems with his grandfather being what he is, save for how it clashes starkly with his own scientific view of the world.
Met up with Emma to do some parkour Monday morning. We'd barely gotten through the warm-up (and my apologizing for being so inaccessible these past few months) when Val showed up and it turned into a chat fest. (Val tends to spawn chattiness. Go figure.) We basically just talked a bit and caught up with going-ons and whatnot until Emma headed out, allowing me to drop the guise of being kin and give Val some updates about the bawn, some working theories I've got, and.... yeah. Val's going to sketch the wasps and the beetles she saw from memory and drop the sketches off at the tenement for me. I'm going to then use some Mind magic to refresh my own memory from when I saw them when I woke up earlier in hive itself with a gaggle of Garou, then coincidentally tweak and adjust Val's drawings, then use Google to see if I can find a species-specific match to the wasps and beetles. If there is a species-specific link, then maybe the symbiotic biology between the two mundane versions of these insects might give us some insights into their relationship and how to deal with the giant-sized ones.

At one point, Val asked why I didn't just go and scry out at the caern to look at the wasps and beetles myself. I told her it was a matter of me respecting the garou's privacy, and I think that might have shocked her--or perhaps her corax-fueled curiosity. But she seemed to respect that.
I finished up Mouse's back brace. Did some elongating of the plastic plate so it'll better conform to and support her abnormally long spine. To add a ribbon or not to add a ribbon?
