Wed: A normal lunch with abnormal people?

Lunch with Naomi went pretty well. She seemed to really enjoy the Oriental Regency--it's one of my favorite restaurants in the city. All in all? Lunch was pretty normal, actually. And we seemed to hit it off fairly well. I did poke at her with magic again, this time blatantly walking up and "ringing the doorbell" with Life, Mind, and Spirit--while making overt hand gestures and going "OoooOOoooOoooo" like a ghost. (Seriously? How many times in a mage's life do they get to do that?) Nothing, I don't think she's a mage or she'd have reacted or pushed back or /something/ at that. She seemed a little interested when she asked about hobbies and I mentioned how I liked reading about the occult--got into it from working homicide cases so I could better get inside killers' heads and understand motives and recognize evidence at crime scenes. (That's not too weird, I hope?) But I assured her I wasn't a practitioner.

The rest of the conversation was pretty normal. In fact, it kind of made me a little self-conscious of perhaps how abnormal I seem to have become over the years, what with my "zen yoga parkour" in the park, interest in the occult/magic, purchase of a base jumping parachute, isolationist home environment, hanging out with Kitsune assassins and an apartment and farmhouse full of werewolves, feeding a raven/corax regularly, surrounded by Star Wars paraphernalia, and somehow managing to be employed and making good money.

Naomi hinted about needing someone else to go with her to the Seattle Seahawks game--she got tickets from her boss for doing them a recruitment favor. I opted in and offered to drive and show her where the good coffee shops and roasters were. She accepted. So.... There's that in the future. She made a couple comments--"not batting for her team" and it taking 4-5 weeks before she let things get serious with a person--that.... Hmm.

Made all the more appealing by Riley's comment the day before about how I ought to be a good male Walker kinfolk and humping Cheese Doodle. Yuck.
I dropped Riley off Val's original e-mail and told Mouse and Val that I'd scanned Naomi again, didn't think she was a mage, but suspected a mage may have used some industrial-level magic on her in the past. I wonder of one of her squadmates is a mage? Maybe he put some protection stuff on her? Or maybe she got shot or blown up by an IED, the squad-mage went vulgar to put her back together again, and then wiped her mind in the process so as to avoid difficulties. It's a mystery. A mystery that might just up and disappear in two weeks if Naomi gets relocated.

I asked Val to check into her past history with Terminus. I'd brought it up once on purpose to see what kind of reaction she'd have, but it was just a "don't let them work you too hard" comment. Maybe she or a family member worked for Terminus in the past? Val can probably poke around there, and from the Terminus side, without triggering any alarms from Spec Ops people

I asked Mouse to prod Riley to keep Naomi under her hat lest word leak out and someone decide to kill her "just to be safe." Because I can totally see Garou doing that kind of thing.

The important thing is that there's no negative Entropic resonance about her--no Wyrm taint.
