Accords in development, spirit dreams of betrayal, and riding the lightning.

Last afternoon I gave Mouse a call, asking her to serve as a springboard for as to whether or not the local garou would be accepting of a peace accord between the local garou and the local mages. Mouse said she didn't know and that she'd meant to ask me last month if I'd mind if she'd floated the fact that she even knew a mage passed a few key decision makers: Elliot (the sept's Alpha) and Jacinta (the sept's Warden). I urged Mouse to do so. If they seem receptive, then maybe we can consider an additional step. If not, fuck 'em: I'll just keep helping the Glass Walkers. But ultimately, I'd like to negotiate for a "you don't kill/harm/judge us and we'll extend the same courtesy to you." Something that goes beyond just me and helps afford protection to all mages within the city who've signed on and know the countersign to a challenge--allowing the resident mages to keep their numbers and identities concealed if they so wish it.

It's all wishful thinking until I hear back from Mouse. Vaporware.

Speaking of vaporware, I was in Harbor Park after that call to Mouse, keeping tabs on the node while reading up on programming strategies for a defunct system of coding virtual reality applications. Clarice and Rai turned up. Seems like they're up to something. (Packing? Planning for something? I don't know.) Rai commented that the ritual Clarice had helped him with yielded some interesting dreams. Specifically, Rai had a dream about that Disney movie, Fantasia, The Sorcerer's Apprentice scene where Mickey does magic and makes all kinds of inanimate objects dance around. Except it was Yosemite Sam instead of Mickey. The rite was supposed to allow the spirits to communicate information to the ritualist. I can't help but think that the spirits were trying to tell Rai that there was a warper in their midsts. Rai mentioned wishing that he knew that Sense Magic gift so he could sniff about. Clarice said she would mention the dream to Mouse and Salem. (That... will not do as much good as they think, I suspect! ;) I suggested that the dream might have been less about Mickey/Sam and magic and more about how the garou needed to be cleaner and tidier as a whole. I did manage to finagle Clarice and Rai letting me observe the ritual in the future. It'll be interesting to see this ritual in action. Plus? I can then go into another room and tweak/modify the dream.

That evening, on the summer solstice, I went home to my cabin, crossed over to the spirit world and worked at summoning a storm and lightning like I'd read about could be done with higher levels of Forces. I used an extended ritual in the umbra so as to reduce the likelihood of a paradox backlash and the increase the chances of success. It paid off. If I was the threatening type of mage, I might have summoned that storm up over the head of whatever spirit is out there trying to give hints about me to the garou. The storm was dramatic, but I can see how this magic might be a useful and coincidental means of bring water, cover, or lightning to an area with a substantially reduced probability of there being backlash. Still, best to practice these things in the umbra. And, bonus, I've been off using/crafting fire with my magic for some time now.
