Plottin' and plannin' on how to bring Naomi's wolf back. Without exposing myself.
Thankfully the bleeding out of random facial orifices stopped the morning after I'd dream-raped Naomi's skullspace, but I was still left with a headache to contend with most of the morning. (That and chucking out the pillows I had in my old apartment at the tenement because, hello, blood smears all over them. Gross.) I went out later and happened to bump into Naomi and Val at the range. Naomi looked tired. (Understandably so.) Told Naomi Mouse was out of town for maybe 1-3 months, but that she was a thinker and was likely thinking about Naomi's situation and potential solutions. And that she left the city quick and with almost no notice, so it was likely one of those "the stars have aligned properly" situations where she had to act fast or not at all. And that Naomi was likely 2nd on her list of things to do (after this trip she'd been planning for a year or so). And.... Well, I basically made Mouse look as good as I could in her absence. Don't want Naomi thinking she got ditched or that no one cared about her situation. She seemed understanding, but asked if the Walkers had another competent theurge that wasn't Mouse. Uh. Not for this. Naomi then asked about the local sept's 2nd-best theurge. The only one that came to mind that I knew of was Maddie, so I told her I'd look into hooking her up with Maddie. (I am not looking into hooking her up with Maddie at all unless I can't get Riley to help me out here as a fake Mouse-proxy.) We ended up talking guns for a while, then sort of wrapped it up after swapping handguns out while Val stuck with her rifle. (That thing is loud.)
I looked around for Riley for a couple days and no dice. Went back to looking at Clarice's text earlier and read the /thoughts/ behind the text. It has the feel of 'we'--Clarice AND Riley--having gone to get Mouse and BRB. I think Riley might have gone with Clarice. If they catch up with Mouse, I think Mouse will be very well protected. But with Riley gone? All the more reason to reactivate Naomi if that's possible. I email Salem to see if he'd help, got a meeting with the Old Man, and laid out my plan to him:
1) Get some strong awakened alcohol. Doctor it with some herbs and spices (and maybe some Nyquil) to make it taste weird/strange. Pretend it's a potion Mouse made and had delivered to Salem for delivery to Naomi.
2) Get Naomi to drink it and pass out.
3) Salem lets me know that she's out. I come in, examine her, then attempt to jiggle the other mage's magick loose via some countermagicking.
4) I leave and Salem remains behind for when she wakes. In the event she pops/frenzies when that happens (hopefully not an issue as she should be unconscious), Salem's there to restrain her.
Salem liked the plan a lot and said he was in. He's going to rustle up some awakened alcohol, which'll save me from experimenting with Prime-infused alcohol--and then testing it out on Naomi. (No telling what that stuff might do. Although.... Might not hurt either.) He's going to give me a call when we've got a green light.
I spent a bit of time cooking up a coincidental effect disguised as a cyber intrusion so I could lift the toy store's work schedule and employee addresses from their store computer. It got shut down HARD by something right as I was about to crack into the computer. Something spirit-based. Pattern-based. Weaver. Two can play this game. I retooled my coded attack, then wrapped it in a bubble of Spirit-Entropy magick designed to make the inner core of Correspondence and Forces magick look like a small, insignificant pattern spirit. Nothing to see here and not a threat. That slipped through the defenses. (Ha ha! God, I miss hacking stuff.) I got the info I was looking for and pulled the plug on my effect. No need to tip anyone off by getting greedy and rooting around unnecessarily. Looks like there were two employees: Jane Cowden (who doesn't seem to work there anymore) and John Smith (the owner who lives on the premises). I'll swing by and check out Jane's spirit tomorrow to make sure she's not gotten corrupted.
