Mouse returns.
I was doing some meditating by the pond out behind the farmhouse (why the hell am I being drawn to that location?) when Moros and Slug showed up. Moros wanted to know when he could go back to the city. I told him likely as soon as The Suits were dealt with. He said that something needed to be done about them and pounded his hand into his fist--as if the Glass Walkers hadn't done anything or that The Suits needed to be killed off. I pointed out that violence would doom the sept and that subtlety and manipulation would take time. And then I got a text message that was weird. Jibberish. Except I could see patterns in it. Some kind of code? And then everything happened at once. Moros was on the verge of frenzy (what the hell did I do?!?) and my phone was getting so hot I was certain it was going to explode, so I chucked it in the pond and ran for the treeline. Hell, I even put Slug between me and Moros. (Moros is a regenerating combat monster: Slug is a regenerating combat monster: I am not a regenerating combat monster. It doesn't take a genius to see the logic there.)
End results? Slug turned invisible. Moros fell to the ground screaming but didn't frenzy. Emma and Riley turned up. And Mouse seemingly teleported in via my submerged cell phone--though she later said it was not her intended target destination. And me? I bailed. Too much crazy. But not before I scanned Mouse from afar. It's her. And it looks like there's some sort of fetish overlapping her spine.
I hope that's what Mouse wanted.
I swung by later that evening, but the farmhouse was chaotic with activity. Too many people doing too many things. I think it made Emma skittish. I was a bit nervous myself, so I headed out when she did. We went back to my place, and she spent the night.
