So that's a Great Hunt?

Sat, Jun 21

I'd learned from Robbie the evening before that the garou were having a Great Hunt that evening and that Emma was involved. So Saturday morning I made preparations to facilitate Corresponding magick to the caern, then I slept most of the day away so I'd be fresh that evening. Unfortunately, I slept too late. I woke up, extended my sense to the caern (which was harder than I thought--I should spend more time there ASAP), and... Shit. A group was tearing out towards the woods. I was able to identify Salem and Riley and Cheese Doodle and Silvertip readily, so I followed them to play guardian angel. They happened upon what I suspect was a pack of Spirals, all wearing peculiar metal collars, and they seemed to be sacrificing (winding guys out of) one of their own and putting entrails in a tree-like creature.

The fecal matter made contact with the rotating ceiling appliance.

It was fast and furious. I wasn't able to do a whole lot for the garou. But I did dis-spell this blanket of pitch-blackness effect the Spirals used against several of the garou, and when Salem looked like he needed a hand, I jinxed the fuck out of the silver-clawed (?!?!) Spiral that was attacking him. (In hindsight, that was.... I should have given Salem good luck rather than willing bad luck on a Spiral. Ultimately, the effect is basically the same, but the intent/aggression is very different. Granted, I very nearly reached out and Force Choked the bitch for hurting Salem to begin with. So.... I guess jinxing wasn't too bad in comparison to my initial impulse.)

The garou seemed to have things under control by then. There was a black unicorn spirit (garou totem spirit of some kind) wielding fire against a blue flame spirit, and they looked about evenly matched, but the garou were coming to the unicorn's aid, so I spent the few seconds remaining examining the blue flame spirit. And then I shifted my focus to the dead tree spirit. I didn't get enough time to make any very detailed observations of either, unfortunately. They were, on the surface, just angry, destructive, corruptive spirits--the tree spirit moreso than the blue flame spirit.

I sent a mental impulse to Silvertip to bring me a collar. Then a second impulse with the same message 30 seconds later so she'd hopefully know it wasn't a coincidence.

Back to bed. My sleep cycle is all off.

Nightmares?

That night, I could feel a nasty nightmare coming on. I'm not sure if it was prompted by the god-awful violence I'd witnessed or the momentary contact my mind made while skimming the surface of the now-destroyed banes' minds. But I control my dreams. I use Mind magick, wave a protected place within my own skull, and went there to wait out the storm.

You have no power over me.

Sun, June 22--Stocks, spirits, and grimoires.

A boring day of anticipating the stock market's moves for the next week, feeding and chatting with Kargamis, and critically reviewing a chapter from the Chorister's grimoire. I feel like there's an epiphany that's /just/ out of my reach.
