I popped over into Benedict's dreams again to touch base and make sure he wasn't dead yet. His sister, Alicia, hasn't killed him. That's a plus. Maybe, if he's smart and keeps his head down, he'll have a chance. I've been hiding my identity from him in these sessions, using a brown Jedi robe, hood up, dark shadows within. He asked about if that was some kind of test. I told him no, it was for my own protection as I had no idea what the garou might do with or to him. We'll see how that settles out, and I don't care to risk my (relative) anonymity while walking among them.
It turns out that Carter was the mage who'd taken Benedict in as a prospective Acolyte. That was about 10-15 years back, I think. Damn. He is kind of old to have recently Awakened. Not sure if that'll mean anything or not. But I ramble. Carter was a Virtual Adept, I think. Bits of his mind were, at least. The sane bits. And according to Benedict, Carter just disappeared one day. No telling what happened there. Paradox might have finally just eaten him or his other half may have killed him or they might have touched and negated themselves right out of existence. But the long and short of it is that Benedict does not consider himself a Virtual Adept. He doesn't know what Tradition he is--if any.
I'd asked how he'd done with the tass-charged penny I'd given him, and he said that when he sensed it it felt "heavier." So that's how he's perceiving things. Perhaps Matter? That's Son of Ether domain. Or Prime? He doesn't strike me as Celestial Choir. Although he does seem interested in finding greater meaning, believing (rightfully so) that the garou's view on how reality works is limited and short-sighted. We'll see. I told him to keep working with sensing the energies within the coin and to start focusing not on WHAT he was sensing, but HOW he was sensing. I feel obligated--if he has an inclination towards a Tradition--to take him to someone for training. I did point out I was an Orphan (and I conveniently left off that earlier Hollow One jaunt I had for a year or two in my youth) and followed my own path, which made some things harder and some easier.I don't know. Maybe I ought to use some Time magic, scry into his future a ways, and cheat a little to see what Tradition he ought to be in? If any?
