Went to see Val and the goodies she picked up for me last night. She'd brought me a rock from the spirit world to examine, like I'd requested of her. (Awesome!) But Val being Val, she'd also brought one of the new bramblefruits (it radiated wildly with Prime and Entropy and Life and Spirit), another bramblefruit she brought from the spirit world (which looked pretty much the same but with more Spirit), and a hunk of cobweb-like stuff from a spiritual echo of a building in Kent Crossing--which she thought I might like to see because it was more "Weaver" than Wyld like the bramblefruit. When Val delivers, she really delivers!!!

In examining the stuff from the spirit world, I noticed a faint, ethereal link between them and Val. I noticed it first with the rock and, when I explained that there seemed to be a link to Val and how I was afraid to mess with anything for fear of it harming her, she seemed a little put out. Maybe I'm misreading her there? She severed the links.

I'm not sure what to do with all this stuff yet, as it would be hideously unwise to take it to the tenement (where a garou might detect/notice it) or the Sanctum (what other links might there be that might expose it or leave a trail to it?). I decided I needed to pull the trigger on buying that Winnebago ASAP. I also need a juicer. I'm going to run those bramblefruits through the juicer, then freeze the juice and pulp. If it survives the process, that makes a nice repository for later tass harvesting -or- if I ever decide to trade it with another mage or if I have a free week or two of downtime and want to sample the stuff later. (It is so damn tempting.)

Val also asked what I thought about there being another mage in town. I told her I was cool with it, and that at one time there'd been at least 5 mages in town--up until the most powerful one disappeared and the others--all more powerful than me--went their own ways over the years. I also said it was a good sign that he hadn't threatened to harm Val and that he'd not left any nasty magical surprises lurking in her apartment. And I was ecstatic that it wasn't a brand-new mage that I'd feel obligated to take in and educate. And it didn't matter that he was self-taught and not a member of any particular group--because I wasn't either.

Then Val told me it was Charley. The fang kin who's new in town. And that he was /obvious/ about examining things no human would have payed much attention to. Ugh. The guy needs help or he's going to get made eventually. I'm suddenly finding myself having serious concerns, though. Charlie's dad is apparently a big-time garou. He has an obvious kinfolk lineage, whereas mine is a total fabrication concocted by me and Mouse and--to a lesser extent--Salem. I think my big concern here is that if I reveal myself to Charlie, Charlie could--in turn--out me to every garou on the planet. And I don't want to be known as a "kinfolk mage." I only want to be "kinfolk" because it makes working with the garou a hell of a lot easier than doing everything from the shadows.

I'm going to have to think about this. This might, actually, be a good time to try and peer into the future with a little Time and Entropy. Let the Magic 8-Ball guide my path.

Right. I'm off to buy a 1974 Winnebago Brave this morning. I need my own space, and I think I can get this guy haggled down to about $4K. And a juicer for that bramblefruit. I bet I could make a couple popsicles out of the juice.
