Popped in to the Tenement on Wednesday with a bag of groceries. (Grocery delivery is a fantastic and innocuous excuse for showing up at a place the garou inhabit. Though it tends to set me back $50-80 a pop.) Ran into Kavi. Learned that Rina is still around, well, and "doing better." I think Kavi might have known I was dancing all around the whole vampire blood drinking issue from before. Sue showed up then, and the two garou started talking about some sort of internal dispute/conflict. I was tempted to listen in at first, but then felt kind of guilty about doing so. I excused myself--despite mild protests from both Sue and Kavi. Ugh. Sometimes I feel like such a giant ass.
Wed night I took a short walk on one of WWNP's campground trails. Walking helps me collect my thoughts, and I was thinking about how Val can apparently turn herself invisible. I got to thinking about how I could accomplish the same trick via manipulating light with Forces, then I noticed a rabbit grazing in a small clearing up ahead and had a different thought: Invisiblility through Mind magick. I reached out to touch the rabbit's mind (weird, let me tell you), got a feel for its sensory input and it's awareness of me, and then tweaked the rabbit's visual, audial, and olfactory sensory input that alerted it to my presence. Rabbits do not have the greatest of memories, and it appeared to forget I'd been there just a few seconds ago. It relaxed and focused on eating again. I waited half a minute and then slowly walked up behind it, bent down, and tried to pick it up. It freaked and kicked me! Scratched my arm with its paws as it flipped out and escaped. Ouch. (Who knew?)
Still, that's a pretty useful Mind trick and one that I have a whole lot less moral quandaries about using in comparison to mind-raping someone for information. Also, it can be passed off more coincidentally than the Forces-based alternative. Though the Mind version can only fool one person at a time and the Forces version could fool a multitude. Pros and cons.
Seriously? The moon can not get bigger fast enough. I want back into the astral plane so I can practice more vulgar magick.
