A little Mind magic coupled with Correspondence magic and the cabin's occupants are CONVINCED that a nest of black widows hatched underneath the house recently--and that its stirred up some mice or rats, which are now scratching in the walls of the cabin. They keep catching glimpses of stuff moving on the periphery of their vision: a rat's tail zipping down that hole under the sink, a spider taking cover in a closet. As of last night, they were so petrified of staying in their rental house that they spent the night camped out in their car!

(Which was nice, because it gave me a chance to catch up on some sleep).

An exterminator was sent in today and the whole place is being sprayed from top to bottom. Sorry. That's not going to help. (I hope there weren't too many roaches in there.) I bet they're gone within the next week or two at this rate--maybe sooner.

I used my PI license to get me access to the local DMV database. I cross-referenced all the local commercially-owned vans and the most common is a white Ford Econoline (E-150 commercial), late 1990s to mid 2000s model. So I'm going to look for a 2002-2005 model, white, in decent condition, with a reliable engine and a sliding cargo door on the side. (Can you say "ghetto gunboat" boys and girls? I knew you could!) Craigslist shows 11 models for sale in this region, put up in the last 7 days, and a couple can be scored for under $8000. Note to self: ask Mouse if there's any garou or kin who knows how to do bodywork or works in a shop that does so. Getting rid of conspicuous dents would probably be a good thing, and the cheaper ones seem to be a little dented in spots. Cops ought to have a hell of a time identifying this vehicle, especially if there's swappable magnetic signs on it with spares inside. I think I'll work on the signs next while I wait for Deleware to incorporate the VisionAire company as a legal entity.

Ran into Thomas this morning. We talked about classic detective fiction: he's surprisingly well-read for a shifter. I really shouldn't stereotype them as being unread and uncultured--not when the average American is probably, worse than them. Unfortunately I got called away for a meeting at Terminus before we could talk much. I was hoping to learn more as to why Beast Courts worked (kind of) in Asian countries, but there's been nothing like (from what I can tell/assume) locally. What's the secret to cross-shifter cooperation--even if it didn't really work too well overseas?
