Had a good chat with Charley last night. I think I got him to see the light--that he's wasting his time being a corporate suit instead of a mage, and that he needs to hire people to do his work for him, delegate, and work towards simply making the big decisions that he can pick based off of reading executive summaries summaries compiled by underlings and throwing in a splash of Entropy. That would free him up to learn and practice more magic. Rich, overworked executives are a dime a dozen: mages are a rare and priceless commodity.

I think he's been strangling his avatar while working to be a corporate overachiever. Hopefully he'll take steps to let his avatar--and himself--breathe a little.

Charley's got potential. His priorities merely needed adjusting.

He called me a "bad influence." Awesome. :)

I mentioned the upcoming trip where I'd need my talisman again, and that that'd limit me letting him borrow it and playing around in the umbra a second time, but I wanted to let him know I'm okay with him borrowing it on occasion: I think that last trip helped stir his avatar. He didn't ask about going on the trip with Val, me, and a couple garou, though. I guess he's not feeling quite ready to make that big of a leap.

Charley did, however, mention how cool it'd be if we could both cross over into the umbra at the same time. Later, I remember one of the things Pavel--the mega-mage down near Boulder, CO--mentioned as a possible swap in exchange for a doctored digital copy of the notebook Topsy loaned me. It's a huge boulder that's, theoretically, a mobile node and a gate between this world and the spirit world. We could drop it on my property out in the woods, I suppose. From the description, there's probably no way Charley and I could move it alone (even with my talent with Forces--and that would be quite vulgar magic), and... the group of mages that used to have it is all dead, save for the lone, badly mangled survivor. Nephandus, rumor has it. I should float mention of it past Charley: see if it's something he might be interested in. But I suspect we would have to enlist assistance from some garou. Bleh. And they might try and steal it. Or kill us. Or dress us up in tacky holiday sweaters. Maybe there's an angle I can work on this?
