Had kind of an interesting talk with Val the other night. She mentioned in passing that she'd spent the day with Brad (the bartending Wendigo kin from the pool hall) watching his niece hunt for eggs, and suddenly it clicked. I asked if she was seeing Brad, and she said she kind of was, but it was on the down-low because she's worried about Brad being Wendigo kin, Jacinta being the Wendigo elder and not being a huge fan of Val's, and.... Yeah. That could get ugly if it went public, so I promised her I wouldn't breathe a word of it to anyone.

I'd also talked with Val about how there seemed to have been a shift from how the garou behaved in the late 1990s to, say, somewhere in the 2005-2010 range. In St. Claire, they used to be far more openly violent in the city and much more willing to get into brawls in the streets or shoot and kill bystanders--as if a half dozen humans were merely acceptable collateral damage. Val suggested that the shift in their attitudes might be due to the corresponding shifts in technology--particularly surveillance equipment and the prevalence of camera- and video-enabled cell phones, which have become fairly ubiquitous nowadays. I think she's right.

Ironically, before Val had shown up and mentioned that possibility, I'd been intentionally messing around with cell phone electromagnetic energy surround this woman's phone across the park. She'd been yammering on the phone and completely ignoring her two kids who were hunting for eggs and screaming for her to pay attention to them, but her phone conversation was more important to her. So I figured it'd be coincidental if her cell phone suddenly lost signal, and tweaked the area around her with some low level Forces--and some even lower level Correspondence so I didn't have to look in that direction. It was pretty easy to see what electromagnetic waves the phone was sending out, so I just dissipated that range and the very nearby spectrum around her phone. A wave of my hand and PRESTO! Cell phone with no signal. I was debating the utility of something like that on a much larger area, and how that might be useful to the Glass Walkers during a raid to keep people in the area from calling the cops and to help protect the Veil. I'll do a little more experimenting with it this week to see if it's viable over an area--I think it should be--and then maybe tell Mouse about what I could do to help from the shadows in keeping the Veil intact, reducing the chances of an alarm going up, and reducing the response time for the police. Just so long as they don't use it as an excuse to go on killing sprees.
