Dropped by the farmhouse yesterday and ran into Charlene and Rhys. Rhys passed his Rite of Passage! He had to kill a meth-cooking fomor with some kind of arachnid hybridization thing. He did it with his claws, finding a weak point, jamming his claws through, and rending her from the inside. He did not look nor sound thrilled about it and agreed that he might have preferred using a firearm of some kind instead. We're going to do some firearm practice at a later date. That and look at alternative munitions that might help to serve as distractions while other garou went in for the kill. I'm thinking he might want to look at the versatility of a 12-gauge shotgun, short barrel, pump. I told him I had rubber bullets in my pistol, and I think that prompted this whole line of discussion about non-lethal means of using a firearm to help out in a fight. That and if you immobilize something rather than kill it, you can then take more time to assess what needs to be done with it and if it can be saved. I like having options, and I think Rhys is of a similar mindset.

Charlene mentioned there was someone in town who'd had their head cracked open and their brain scooped out. Yikes! That certainly sounds suspicious! I mentioned the mage that got killed after exploring the RR tracks in WWNP. (Trying to make Val look good/useful to the natives.) Then I inquired if Charlene knew what happened with that knife that'd rendered K-L unable to shift for a while. She had given it to Val, who had supposedly hidden it in a safe place. That's... going to make things much easier than I suspected. I need to take a peek at that thing as it sounds suspiciously like it might be tied in with what happened to Naomi. Charlene asked WHY I'd asked about who had the knife, so I lied and said that Mouse had mentioned wanting to take a look at it. I should probably tell Mouse about that in case Charlene asks later. Hurray for lying?

Shortly after Charlene departed, Reggie showed up. I'm not sure what to make of him. There's something off about him--like mild social dysfunction. That or he's just an asshole. After he asked for news, and I told him about the recently deceased mage, he got excited about the ray gun. I asked if it was because it was magic, and he said it was because he liked Buck Rogers (which I had to google, then watch a video of online--good god, that was a terrible show). I directed him at Val if he wanted any details, putting myself as just a guy who'd heard some stuff second-hand and didn't have the full story. Since he'd brought up mages and ray guns, I asked if he'd ever run into a mage before, and he didn't exactly give a straight answer. He did say they looked like him or me (haha), that he couldn't pick one out of a crowd (good to know), and that the worst ones sucked the life out of Gaia but there were some that were not "quite as bad." (Not exactly a ringing endorsement. I have the sneaking suspicion he's never known a mage personally.) He cautioned that if I were to run into one, stay away and call for help. Rhys had stepped out by then: he was clearly still dealing with having to kill something on his Rite. Reggie pointed it out and said that that sort of thing was unusual for a new cliath--in a derogatory fashion. I snapped back that Rhys was not like most new cliaths: he thinks. I think that might have stunned Reggie a bit. I left almost immediately after that. Belatedly, I'm a little surprised at how fast I took offense to someone badmouthing a Glass Walker. I'd have let that shit slide in the past. Sheesh, I really have changed.
