Friday night I dropped by the Tenement to talk with Mouse about Naomi. A few seconds after I stepped into the lobby area, alarms started going off. Clarice disappeared instantly--literally instantly and literally disappeared. And then Mouse. And... Thankfully the computer screens were flashing "UMBRAL INCURSION" so I had an idea as to what was going on. But everyone couldn't see the screens and someone new had just shown up and.... It was chaos for a second until we figured out that Waldo, the new Walker who'd just arrived, wasn't triggering the alarm. All the garou went umbral and I fired up some scrying magic and began building up a nasty little bit of magic that blended the fun and excitement of a supercharged taser jolt with a stunning psychic attack. I suspect that'd drop someone (non-lethally) on their ass in a heartbeat.
The umbra was full of spirits, some attacking the safehouse and some defending it. Chaos. And there was a person-sized otter spirit running around helping Clarice out (who was cybered up AND had silvery fur on top of that--WTF?). The otter spirit was kind of cute too in a "glad it's on the other side of the glass/gauntlet" sort of way. The attackers? Geometric shape spirits the garou call geomids, pattern spiders, and weird-looking, modified (controlled?) roach spirits. Unfortunately, I couldn't make heads or tails out of what the garou were saying as the fight went on, and I was reluctant to tap into one of their minds to get a translation--for fear that might mess them up if I screwed up the effect.
I didn't see Mouse in the fight anywhere until the tide of the battle had clearly (and quickly) turned to the garou's favor. *SPLAT* Mouse'd jumped off the roof and hit the pavement to rescue a roach spirit that'd been capture and they were trying to carry off. (Yeah, having the ability to regenerate DEFINITELY changes one's mentality. Garou can be crazy-ass fucks.)
Fight over, everyone went back to the realm to lick wounds and recover. Mouse was the most messed up--she hurt her spine again. She had awakened morphine in her room, which I fetched for her. And then she was out. I played ignorant as to what happened on the other side, just like a good, normal kin should. Stayed at the tenement that night so I could sit at the desk, monitor security feeds, and make sure another attack wasn't coming.
Tired. So very tired.
