I stayed up all night Friday and into Saturday manning the security feeds for the safehouse in the event of an (unlikely) second attack. Nothing happened. I did, however, get to thinking about those geomids that attacked the safehouse's umbra yesterday. They reminded me of one of my math professors from SCCU who taught differential geometry my senior year. Good lord, has it been 14 years since I graduated with my undergraduate in math and comp sci? I looked my old prof up, saw he'd published a few research papers, and did a little reading--and number crunching.
Rhys, Quin, and Javid showed up. Quin mentioned that a few restaurant managers in town had had their managers turn up dead (with heads cracked open and brains scooped out). He's looking to get a younger kin to hit up a few suspect restaurants, buy some take-out meals, then bring them back to the lab for analysis. I'm skipping all meat-containing items at restaurants for a bit--just in case someone is slipping human brains into the taco meat.
I mentioned to Javid, who'd arrived smoking a joint and continued doing so in the lobby, that it he might not want to be seen smoking marijuana while coming or going from the safehouse--in the event an overzealous cop decided to snoop around to see if the safehouse was illegally dealing or whatnot. That pissed Javid off. Rhys backed me up. That pissed Javid off even more. Quin and I bailed as the scene turned into a pissing contest. I've got footage of it off the lobby video camera here. Clarice showed up, then Salem, then Mouse chipped in over the intercom--and Javid left. Sounded like Clarice was going to investigate the matter and get things settled. I suspect Javid was just angry because the moon was fuller. Otherwise? He must really hate the Walkers if he meant the things he said in that outburst. Reggie turned up and escorted Quin home.
I filled Mouse in on Naomi's situation and we started planning for the next step--seeing if I can unwork the other mage's magic while Mouse hides it under a bogus ritual. The plan is for me to go find a safe place in the umbra to the west of St. Claire and away from prying eyes. I'll drive Mouse and Naomi out to the site. They'll both cross over into the umbra while I stay behind. Mouse will, as part of the ritual, have Naomi take a potent sedative that knocks her out. Then I'll cross over and do my thing. Disappear. And hopefully, when Naomi wakes up, she'll be garou again.
