I've been avoiding Harbor Park after sundown to steer clear of that ugly vampire woman. That thing is scary. I should probably check from afar with some binos to see if it's still hanging around.

Salem called me up the other day looking for some help--apparently he's back in town. (He seems much more centered than before, though a little bit distant.) Apparently someone had shot and poached some wolves out in WWNP and the garou are unsurprisingly on the warpath for blood and vengeance. I did a forensics investigation and some magic to get some leads, then managed to negotiate Salem down from killing the perpetrators to working to get them fined and jailed instead. I wonder if he has that much clout? (I would not be stunned if they took the information Salem gives them, uses it to find these people, and then just kills them. I've got some serious moral qualms about this whole thing.) I've a good description of the two poachers and their equipment, so that's something to get them started. I suspect they've got a remote place somewhere outside of KC but not overly far away--30-60 minute drive tops, I'll bet. I also found a spring trap that they'd forgotten and lifted a fingerprint off it. Once the world stops spinning (Time disorientation paradox after-effect), I'll head down to the station, run the print, and maybe I'll get lucky.

It was.... It's been ages since I'd been out in the deep woods out that way. I think the last time was maybe about 10+ years ago with Cyllan, overnight camping trip, serving as overwatch for her doing a ritual. I wonder whatever happened to her? And Bridget? Kristine? Hope? And....

I've been a little out of things the past few weeks with needing to do a lot of prep work for some cases going to trial, but the brunt of that is finally over. I must say that I'm not a big fan of being tied up in court, but it's a necessary evil--to put the evil away. But some days? Some days I just hate being a cop. But it pays the bills--and I finally got the credit card paid off, so no more debt! Of course, selling the old motorbike helped. I'll miss that toy--though not so much in the winter. Brrr.

I'm going to tap a long nap with LOLcat and sleep off this lingering bit of nausea.
