I ran into Justin, Emma, and Zoe at Garcia's just before lunchtime today. We chatted a bit. Zoe wanted to show me some kind of card trick she was calling "magic." Ah, the things she'll learn in, what, ten years or so? Maybe sooner if an accident happens. Poor kid. I hope she enjoys her childhood.

Val and Ghost turned up, as did Emma's mom (to collect Zoe, who really demands a lot of attention--thank god for grandma!). Ghost.... I've kind of grown dependent on her keeping tabs on the park, and I mentioned her having a "hotkey" program on her phone to insta-text a group of people if something ever happens in the park. Two or three key presses and instantly send a pre-typed "problem at HP" alert out. Well, Ghost then mentions that her phone is sometimes out of minutes. I got a little pissed off at her. She's playing victim again--she seems to love that role--and it's ridiculous. I shoved a wad of cash at her and told her to put minutes on the phone and that not doing so could endanger the glade should there ever be an emergency. A few minutes later, Ghost apologized--and i'd cooled off a little. (God damn, what is it with me randomly flying off the handle this past half-year--and at WEREWOLVES for Christ's sake?!?)

I did what probably should have been done earlier: I gave Ghost a job. Watch Harbor Park. Let me and others on the hotlist know if something weird happens. I was going to offer $100/week, but then I realized this was not 1982 and bumped it to $200/week. That's a mere $10,400/year--not even minimum wage: just $5/hour if she worked a 40/hour week. I suspect she spends more time than that living and sleeping in the park and immediate vicinity. That's money well spent, and I suspect it's more than Ghost has ever had coming to her in the past. Everyone wins. Although I was kind of eyeballing getting one of those newish Porsche Macan Turbos to trade out the Suburban. Find a wrecked one where the engine still worked and with a little Matter magick, just remold things back into place and buff out the paint. Ah, well. I'll live. It was a luxury I really didn't need anyway.
