Val came back into town the other day and dropped by my houseboat in the wee hours of the morning. She's looking better and nowhere near as pissy as she was earlier. Apparently she got mad at me because I wasn't entirely truthful with her and she'd been thinking of me like I was a weird Corax. I think it's because she's a woman and women can just be absolutely nuts sometimes. Like I'm somehow responsible for her thinking that I'm a weird Corax and not a mage? But it seems like the rough patch is largely over and we'll be working together in the future. Maybe I'll put together some spyglasses and an earbud radio device that'd make things much more coincidental? Also, her mom can apparently hold a piece of the sun in her hands. (Interesting, but... why would you want to do that?) And Val has some sort of magic she can do where she can detect if a person is telling the truth or not. I bet that won't work too well on me, though.
Warper. That seems to be the "derogatory" word Val and others use to describe us. I kind of like the sound of it. Maybe I need a new name for what I call myself. I used to use See'er (a play off of Seer that I don't think anyone but me gets), because I could see stuff. But nowadays I can do so much more than just see--even though it's still largely what I do. "Jedi Outcast" isn't going to have much play. Orphan.... Eh. I'll have to think about it. Not like it's really important as I think that Salem, Mouse, Val, and maybe--maybe--that wolf-dog hybrid in the park are the only garou around who know I'm a mage/warper/see'er/seer/Jedi/Orphan. Meh. None of those sound spectacular.
My car broke down last night. Apparently the good folks at Wal-Mart, who'd serviced it not 4 hours earlier, forgot to put a cap on tightly, so steam and smell everywhere. This completely monkeywrenched my search for Flint Madden. (I was experimenting with using Entropy to narrow down my search. That.... might have had something to do with the car breaking down now that I think about it.) Fortunately there was this passerby, Blaine, who's a new mechanic in the area, and she was able to fix it. (She's kind of cute in that girl-next-door capacity.) Gave her my card and told her to call me when she finished setting up her shop--or if she wanted to do a jazz nightclub, because she seemed to like the whole PI thing. (It's really not all as cool as the books make it out to be, though it is a lot cooler when you get to throw magick in the mix.) I'll take my car to her in the future. Val showed up, in raven form, to make fun of my car's breakdown, then later in human form to converse civilly. I wonder if she thinks differently or has a different personality in different forms?
Right. Back to tracking Flint Madden down.
