Based off the brief description Sera gave me regarding how the garou are able to track people down, I thought to try a modified means of tracking for myself. It's, actually, not really tracking thought. I used it to quasi-locate Flint yesterday.

First, I broke out the ol' magic 8-ball and asked it a question: "Is Flint Madden in Saint Claire, Washington?" Signs point to yes. Good. i can work with that.

I then pulled up a Google map of the city, segmented it into 4 rough quadrants based upon the economic status of the residents there: High income, medium income, low income, and industrial/business districts. Generally, runaways tend to end up on the lower income areas of town. So I asked the 8-ball of Flint was in the lower income area of St. Claire as defined by the map I'd created. It is decidedly so. That section was roughly 4 square miles in size. Now we're getting somewhere!

I zoomed the map in closer and broke the map into four geographic locations. It, honestly, could have been any of those sections. Good guesses can only get you so close. I numbered the sections from 1 through 4 and pulled a 4-sided die out of my dice box. Oh, 4-sided die, is Flint Madden in section 1, 2, 3, or 4? 4. We're down to just 1 square mile now.

I again broke the 1 square mile section down into 4 more sections. Repeat. 2. Down to just 0.25 square miles now--about 2 city blocks. It's still a big chunk of territory to cover, and Flint might be holed up in a building somewhere, but I'd just narrowed my stakeout area substantially. I hopped in the MR2 and off we went to do some scouting.

I'd been applying soles to pavement for about an hour or so before I noticed Mouse loitering outside near the building where the Glass Walkers hole up. I went over and joined her. Passed off the postcard from Izzy's mom to see if she'd have any luck tracking down Jennifer Sparks. (If she doesn't, I could give it a shot. But I'd better give things a rest lest I tempt fate.) Then I showed Mouse the photo of Flint. She got all "crap!" on me and dragged me down the alley a bit. I put two and two together just before she told me: Flint's batting for Team Jacob. (I used "Team Jacob" with Mouse and she seemed to hate it. Cool. I'll save that term for later and share it with Val.) I guess I'll need to tell Flint's grandparents that I couldn't find him, apologize, and see about not taking some--or all--of my fee.
