Monday morning, I called Mouse up to alert her I was headed over, then popped over to the tenement. I didn't feel terribly comfortable there yet. Mouse let me in, and she was sporting some injuries from the brawl she and others were in last night. The shadow bane was dead, but Mouse suspected that there were at least a couple Black Spiral Dancers and/or their kin in town--as they've been leaving signs of their presence and making it obvious they're fired up about a fight. (Val tipped me off about the damage they did at a motel and the vandalized car. There's symbols at these locations that, even using Mind magick and Dreaming, I could not read or understand. Mouse called them "glyphs." I did note some of the similarities to the Glass Walker glyph that Mouse instructed me on earlier--like glyphs stylistically predisposed towards carving with a blade or a claw.) And there's no telling what the bane might have told the other Black Spiral Dancers. (I later sent Val a text saying the bane was dead but there was still danger present--and they might know about her.)

Mouse hooked me up with a room on the 3rd floor. I think I have it all to myself. It's not too bad, but no furniture at all. She told me I could stay as long as I wanted--but I didn't plan on doing that.

I met a new garou, Nieve ("Pirate Trader"--whatever that means?). Ah. The one Val said she respected. And she helped me clean the room up. She gathered up all the roaches--talking with them as she did so. Can they use roaches for spies? I'll be sure to do /nothing/ unusual while I'm crashing at the Glass Walker's haven. I've been careful to shoo the roaches out of the bathroom before vomiting. (Yay. Vomiting. It's down to about twice a day, though.) I did check the room magically for surveillence though: nothing spiritual or electronic. Nice.

Nieve taught me how to use the honorific "Rhya" and explained that heirarchy is important among the garou, but kin are a little fuzzy in the heirarchy. They're sort of separate but attached. For instance, kin should always show respect to garou. But if a kin were related to an important garou, then the garou might afford them more respect.

Frankly, I'm fine with being at the bottom of the heap with the insignificant kinfolk: It makes me not worth being bothered with, but important enough to not kill.

Let the wookie win. Stroke its ego. Keep to the shadows. I think this is the strategy I'll be using in dealing with the garou while masquerading as being one of their kinfolk.

Neive also asked about how I was found and my background. I piled on the background and breezed over the "how Mouse found me" part. She didn't ask for details. Mouse was right: this is an easy cover due to the garou not having the most fantastic of record keeping--combined with being an "insignificant" kinfolk.

I mentioned that I kept tabs on the park. For Mouse, of course. (Cough cough.) And Nieve seemed to value that contribution--and said the garou couldn't always cover it themselves. Good to know, and now I have an excuse for being there if a Garou asks--or if the "caern" node out in the woods inverts and relocates to the park. More tass for me, in plain sight of the garou, with them welcoming me.

Afterwards, Kavi gave me a biometricly padded phone with the hotlist for a ton of garou. Holy crap. I made sure not to touch the biometric pad because I have no idea whether or not it can detect me as being not kinfolk. I need to go talk with Kavi at some point to get instructions/information about the phone. Kavi also strongly and repeatedly mentioned getting in touch with Rina to learn more about kin-related things, fitting in, and such.

After detaching myself from the group, I made a few trips to bring stuff over. No easy feat in a Toyota MR2, which has only two seats and enough cargo space for two overnight bags stashed behind the seats and a duffle bag in the front trunk (by removing the spare tire that was in there). I brought over a 'mundane' laptop to chain to my smartphone so I don't need the Glass Walker's wireless and can watch movies and play music. A small suitacase of clothes. LoL cat, his carrier, and his feline accessories. And a sleeping bag. Slept on the floor. BIG mistake. I rolled over in my sleep and accidentally killed four roaches that'd tried to get all cozy with me. (I bought a cot the next morning. That's keeping the roaches from snoozing with me.)

Before spending the night, I'd bought a couple hissing cockroaches from the pet store, put them out before LOLcat, and waited for him to get ready to pounce. Using a little Mind magic, I made him think that cockroaches burned like a nasty wasp sting when touched. That didn't spare the first roach, but he refused to go ANYWHERE near the other one. It paid off in spades at the Walker's abode. The cat is sleeping on a folding wooden TV tray draped with a hand towel and avoiding the roaches like, well, they're little wasps scuttling about. Returned the remaining cockroach to the pet store for a refund.

Tuesday morning, while carrying stuff upstairs, I ran into Flint and Shelby in the lobby. I think I did a good job playing off having had no idea that Shelby was a garou and that instant was my first realization that I'd been interacting with a garou. I'd assumed she was a Walker and said as much, and that seems to have been a blunder on my part as she's one of the Silver Fangs. We re-introduced ourselves. She has some big-ass long name: Bright Eyes Sees to the Heart of the Ambush. While we were talking, a girl popped in from outside and headed upstairs with nary a word. Flint called her Riley. Odd name for a girl, but, then again, I'm a wizard standing in the lobby of a building chatting with a couple werewolves. What can you do?

Flint was worried about a police woman who'd spotted him, been able to ID him as a missing kid, and even knew his name. Of course, he's wandering around looking like his Missing Person picture: I pointed out as much and gave him a couple pointers to not get caught in the future. I also had to assure him that the cop in question was not a concern, and that I'd worked with her in the past, but probably any other cop that noticed him.... it might have been a big problem, especially if he was spotted coming or going from the tenement. He's young and naive, still. Hope he starts thinking a bit more before he does something stupid.
