Val gave me a call about getting a lift to spy on the black spiral dancers tied in with that bane that invaded my houseboat. Hell yes. We drove out. I parked about three miles away. I used correspondence to follow Val in, scan the area she was hiding in, and gave her a call that it was clear. With Val situated, I decided I'd give the garou a leg up on these bad guys.
I mixed in some matter and correspondence magic to filter the space within the building for a specific shape (bullets) with a specific metal (silver). Wow, that was a lot of silver bullets. But what if those silver bullets had been made wrong? What if the gunpowder in the bullets wasn't actually formulated right? What if it was just really dark, fine-grained dirt? That would be a real tragedy. A tragedy, I think, I was able make happen. I've never done anything like this before, so.... Fingers crossed that it worked and that no one notices.
After tampering with the black spiral dancers' silver bullets, I checked to make sure Val was doing okay, then withdrew. I was afraid someone might detect me, like had happened earlier at Plasticorp. And I didn't want to be the one that tipped the spirals off that they'd been made. Spent the rest of the day shopping and seeing the sights in town. Not a lot to see, but there was a good artisan coffee roaster (scored a sampler collection for me and another for Val) and an ever-so-sad used bookstore that didn't have anything worthwhile in it--mostly romance novels. (Well, at least people are reading. Even if it's crap.)
Val called that night for a pickup. She... she can do her voice like a recorder. Interesting. I bet I could mimick that trick with some Forces and Mind magick. Anyway, sounds like the spirals are starting to infight and maybe unravel. They're planning an attack this weekend. I let Val know that I'd monkeyed with their silver bullets and told her, when she relayed info to the garou, to claim credit for pulling that off so no one would bother, after the fight, examining why all the BSDs guns weren't working. I suggested that if the garou give her a "thank you" gift in exchange for the information she got and the silver bullet disabling (knock on wood) she'll claim credit for, then she either give it to me or share it with me.
When we got back into town, I sent Salem a brief e-mail as to why I'd been gone all day and a glimpse at what Val had been doing. I intentionally choked back on information so Val gets credit for it--and I didn't mention anything about the bullets. Just that Salem needed to be on the lookout for an info dump from Val and that this guy, Andrei, who is apparently being sheltered by the local garou, might not have been entirely forthwith about prior activities with the BSDs that brought him here. (I didn't know if Andrei had access to the Walker safehouse or not, so.... hopefully that won't be a big problem.) I also mentioned in the e-mail that the garou ought to give Val a big thank you gift for everything she'd done recently. Hey, it never hurts to try and prime the pump or jiggle the machine that might dispense interesting magic items to study or play with! (Maybe the one that that garou used to cross over into the spirit world. That would be awesome because I understand I can do vulgar magic as if it were one giant sanctum there--with no worries about human witnesses. Oh, the things I would practice....)
Speaking of, Val's acquired a silver knife she obtained from the bane that'd raided my houseboat. Apparently it used it to stab a few garou and the knife has crossed back and forth into the spirit world--or might be more spirit world than physical world. She offered to let me borrow it to look it over. I'll do so once my primary residence is not a place where the majority of occupants would flip their shit out if they saw I had something like that. I should reconnect with Val. I've been so busy with relocating I've kind of neglected just chatting with her. We should go mess with someone or something--be all devious but as a joke. That'd be a hoot.
