Ran into Val and we caught up on current events. Apparently Thomas claims to be really old--like old enough to remember when Europeans came over to the Americas and make hell for the Indians. And he's able to change his appearance so he can look like anyone he wants. Lovely. There's plans in the works for Val and I to go get more bramblefruit to juice and store--which has prompted me to do something with the 14 bramblefruit popsicles I've already got. More on that in a bit.
The next day I had a brief meeting with Charley. He seems to be doing okay. Tied up with the Terminus Group startup. I showed him how to mask magical energies using some lucky pennies, and explained the same principle can be used in masking himself. Told him about the wolf rescue thing and he wanted to know what I was planning to do. I told him basically "Nothing because I told some garou about it, no one expects a kinfolk to do anything useful, and so I don't necessarily feel obligated to do anything that would help them and potentially jeopardize my abilities." Val turned up after texting me about some stuff she had for me to look at. Turned out it was the remains of a vampire--ashes and a blood sample--and a .45 pistol (probably off the recently deceased vamp). Charley snagged the samples, but neither of us wanted the pistol. As we were winding up, Charley mentioned doing stocks analysis for Terminus. The next day, I e-mailed him my resume, cover letter, college transcript, and the 10-year history of my personal stock portfolio.
Tuesday I ran into Emma in the park. Eventually we popped off to get lunch. Things got a little awkward. She started asking what was up with me and Val--as in relationship stuff. That's like 4-5 times I've been asked about Val and I in the past month. She kept pressing, then started asking if I just didn't date, and I finally told her I was still reeling from a long-term relationship that'd fallen apart last winter. Kind of true, at least.
After lunch, I went back to the RV, packed up the bramblefruit popsicles in a cooler with dry ice, tossed a pair of dufflebags into the MR2, and headed off to San Francisco. I'm going to go see about making a trade for these 14 popsicles. It's about 14 units of tass, except it's tass that actually does stuff--causes random transformations in the imbiber. I'd like to trade it for a Talisman that'll allow me to go in and out of the spirit world. Failing that, I'd like to trade it for something useful/interesting--maybe more books for my library, even. Maybe some books with Forces or Correspondence or Spirit magick discussions.
Just got into San Fran tonight. And I just got a voicemail from Val's mom saying that Thursday is her birthday and that she'll be 32. Random?
