Work is such an annoying inconvenience. Until payday. That's what I'm telling myself anyway. Maybe I should nudge my personal stock folio up a bit to pull in bigger returns on investments? If I play it right, I can quit my day job and focus just on magic and lore. God, that'd be nice. I should take steps to make this happen.

I popped in to the Tenement last night to drop off some groceries and touch base with the Walkers. Ran into Mouse, who seemed gruff and.... still in a power wheelchair. Lefty came to visit, they had a tense discussion about the caern and the scouting mission Lefty'd recently been a part of. Lefty suggested having Mouse converse with some of the beetles that were coming and going out of the wasp nest without being attacked by the wasps, and Mouse suggested Nieve or someone else who could actually still walk to the area. Things got more and more tense between the two of them until I interrupted and pointed out that, according to the internet, there are some beetles that get into wasp nests and lay eggs on the wasp larvae, killing the young wasps. That might have been why, when we woke up in the caern earlier, we saw a beetle inside that was completely unmolested until it went and touched a wasp egg. That seemed to get both their attention, and there was a brief moment of harmony and productive discussion before Lefty departed.

I asked Mouse if she'd been severely injured in the fight earlier, where Flint and Salem frenzied on one another. She believed she had been and her spine was a wreck. She could barely even stand, much less walk. I convinced her to come up to the spartan 3rd floor apartment I've got there so I could spend a few hours studying the shape of her spine (minor bit of Correspondence), where it was weak (Entropy and Life), and how weight was distributed across it when she stood, walked, and moved (Forces). It was painful for her, but I think I've got sufficient information where I can do something that'll help get some of her mobility back. (Wish I knew a mage skilled enough with Life magic to just fix her spine. And eyes.)

I ordered this spinal brace (appropriately called a Cyberspine--and I'm not one to overlook a coincidence like that) online with express shipping.

The rigid support section is made of plastic. When it arrives, I can head over to the sanctum and custom sculpt it to perfectly fit and redistribute spinal load for Mouse with the measurements I took. Crafting shouldn't be too difficult: just use some Matter to transform the plastic from a rigid type to a softer and more pliable type as I work to physically reshape it, then revert the material back to its original rigid type of plastic. Correspondence and the measurements I took earlier--plus a little Dreaming about orthopedics--will help ensure the rework fits like a glove and redistributes forces appropriately. She'll lose most of her ability to flex her spine when she wears it, but she ought to be able to stand. If she chooses to use that Dedication ritual... I have no idea if it will work in her other forms or not.

Jesus Christ. I suddenly feel like the Emperor rebuilding Vader.
