My love affair with my 2003 Toyota MR2 is coming to an end. It's a fun car to drive, but it's a two-seater, with no trunk space, with rear-wheel drive only, which tends to scrape bottom on the "driveway" that leads up to my new house--and winter hasn't even gotten here yet. I had to ride out to San Fran with that eyeball plant in the floorboard of the passenger seat and covered up with stuff to disguise it. I seem to be transporting oddities these days, and there have been a few occasions where I could have used a back seat, so I think it's time to upgrade to a larger, more practical vehicle. I got to looking around on Craigslist, along with some Entropy to get lucky in finding a good deal, and I singled out a nice 2006 Porsche Cayenne S in Seattle for just $17,500 (but I bet I can dicker the guy down further with a little coincidental Mind magic). Dented rear bumper from a low-speed fender bender, but I can mend that myself with some Matter, Time, and Correspondence (looks just like it used to be!) The car is fugly as sin, but AWD, more cargo space, better quality, off-road credentials, newer than my Toyota, and 0-60 in under 7 seconds, so.... Not bad for a mid-sized SUV.

But, damn, that is one fugly car.
Put the Toyota up for sale in the Seattle area and already got a bite. Looks like this Seattle trip will be about driving in with one car and leaving with the other.
Sent Mouse an e-mail yesterday from an unsecured location, so I was careful about what I mentioned. That got me thinking. Sure, the Walkers have a secured mainframe and internal network, but is it secure from magical intrusion/attack? I called Mouse up about it, she mentioned the various security measures she'd put in place (mundane and spiritual), and I bypassed them with a dash of Correspondence and Forces while I was still on the phone with her. She's going to let me do some warding to help protect against magical intrusions. I doubt what I can do will stop any competent mage--it'll be more like a tripwire than a shield, but it will probably set off an alarm if a mage ever takes a crack at their setup.
Ran into Charlene in the park this morning. Had a good talk with her. She didn't realize the park was a glade and that I was helping to keep tabs on it. I told her about the fetish in the umbra and what I'd heard about it from Val, and that there was some interesting backstory about the whole thing involving the local garou and the khan. I pointed her at Nieve if she wanted to learn more about the story, and she seemed excited. Not that I would intentionally direct galliards from another tribe to go research a tale that flatters the Glass Walkers or the good that can come from garou cooperating with non-garou. Oh, no. Not I.
Turns out that the house she wants me to buy under the guise of a non-existent non-profit--and not tell the garou about--is supposed to be for kinfolk who've been in abusive relationships with garou and have escaped. Sort of a battered women's (and men's) shelter, really. It makes sense to not tell the garou about it, because these kin just need time and space to recover and ease back in--not be dealing with garou showing up on the premises. She talked about leaving a legacy and not being forgotten when she was gone. I brought up Shelly's Ozymandias, and how all great leaders and their empires eventually die, wither away, and are forgotten--but how it's not important: what's important is that the actions you take in life positively influence others. Who in turn positively influence others. Who in turn..... That seemed to cheer her up a bit. I like her. She seems nice.
On the way back to the cabin, I dropped off a load of groceries (aimed at enabling them to make chili out of whatever meat they have--probably venison. Cans of beans and tomatoes and chili mix packets. (Damn, now I want chili.) Ran into Baukhain talking with a garou I'd not met before: Jacob Seth. (Ha ha, Team Jacob.) We did introductions, I mentioned I'd been with the SCPD, he mentioned Jesse Kehoe, I said I'd worked with her in the past, that she was smart and competent and a good-looker. Jacob then informed that--oh, BTW--that was his fiance. Foot? Meet mouth. I think I managed to smooth things over before my cell phone rang and I had to make an emergency run back to work. Bleh.
Odd dreams last night. Something was chasing me. A liquid shadow. I'd run into a room, close the door, and it'd ooze under the door. So I'd run into a different room.... Repeat. After this happened for the fifth time (that I was aware of at least), I think I used some Mind magick to take the dream, slap it around a bit, and make it play nice. Subconsciously. I think I'm getting more comfortable with Mind magick, but should I be worried that I might be accidentally using it on myself in my sleep? Or is that normal? Wish I had a mage more skilled in Mind magick to talk to about this, but I'm probably making a mountain out of a molehill.
Getting an early start on my trip to Seattle to do some car-swapping. I think I'm going to detour to a couple attractions while I'm out that way: The levitating stonehenge,Seattle Museum of the Mysteries, Walker Rock Garden (because, hey, Walker, and it might be destroyed soon),sleep in a teepee the first night, the world's first Starbucks store, and a slice of cherry pie and a cup of coffee at the Twin Peaks diner for the trip back home. This should be fun!
