Ran into Mr. Lee a few ago in Harbor Park. He mentioned he had two things to do, then mentioned the first thing and omitted the second thing. So I asked what the second thing was. Apparently Mr. Lee is gearing up to have relations with a vixen so he can father some pups. (Kits?) Ew.
Val swung by in raven form, loitered a bit, then flew off. We weren't really talking about much, anyway.
Yesterday I got a text from Val. She freaked my shit out by saying she'd found another mage, and I was terrified she'd bumped into a Technocrat (likely a Progenitor) operating at the lab that Ex had been held at. I told her to keep moving while I looked into renting a motel room and walling it off with anti-Correspondence/Time/Prime magic to shield her from being tracked and bringing the wrath of the Technocracy down on all of our heads. Val and pretty much everyone around here would be completely, totally, and utterly FUCKED.
Well, it (FORTUNATELY!) turned out that there was no need to put the bird in a box. The mage has apparently been here in the city a couple years and living on the down-low (as we are prone to do). Val seemed to think she was Cult of Ecstacy and friendly--though stoned off her gourd in the park when they'd met up. I've got info on her, so I'll get to work on tracking her down. I wonder if she's the one who'd been trying to tap into the Harbor Park node while I'd been gone for a couple years down in San Fran?
Meanwhile, I've had my hands tied up trying to shoo off what looks like a fire elemental that I might have accidentally attracted to my cabin. I've been trying to make things quietly inhospitable for it the past few days: no fire in the fireplace, no heat on in the house (LOLcat hates me I'm sure), and subtle magical effects channeled from realm to umbra. I'm particularly fond of dropping fist-sized chunks of ice onto its head and watching it freak out and try to figure out where it came from and who/what assaulted it.
