Tuesday I rang Emma up to see if she had time to hit the park and do some parkour before the moon got too big. Went out there (it was snowing!!! And I got busted by Charlene for catching snowflakes on my tongue.) and Charlene and Thomas showed up just before Emma did. None of them had met before, so I told them they were all family. I even hinted that Thomas could give his full introduction and was ever so tempted to give him a mental nudge to do so, but he didn't--introduced himself as Uktena kin. Damn. I was really hoping to see how Emma reacted to meeting a Not-A-Garou. So the parkour workout got cancelled (again! It's like we're cursed!) in favor of meet and greet and chit-chatting.

Talked about plans for Christmas: I think Emma was going to ask me over. I suspect the Walkers might do something, but.... Christmas is practically dead-center of the full moon. Boy, that really has to suck for garou with family. There should be a special holiday called "New Moon Christmas" for garou--and have it come before the actual Christmas holiday. That way they can be with family without the fear of frenzying when they accidentally cook the turkey wrong and it comes out dry.

We talked about some of the things that'd happened in the park. Dirk falling out of the time-space continuum: Charlene seems interested in following up and learning that story. I made sure to plug Val there, mentioning how she helped cover it up, then cover up a frenzy, then how she essentially got canned for cubnapping a couple Wendigo before they could cause damage--and how she'd turned her squad car's video off and her supervisor flipped out. Then the talk of the two new cubs that Owen had claimed for the Get. Cleared up the bit about Emma not being the new Jarl, but she seems to think she'd do good at it--and help undo the perception that Get are a tribe full of assholes. (Viv was kind of bitchy  for no reason the one time I met her and Owen... I don't know about him, really.

Talked about the Lucent Witness a little. Emma tried it but didn't share what happened, whereas Charlene wanted to try it at some point. I mentioned how I'd like to give it a whirl too if kin were allowed. That got me a quizzical look from Charlene and no comment from Emma. You know, maybe I ought to talk to Nieve about it? Or maybe.... No, there was absolutely no mention of kin getting to use it, so.... Shit. But wow, would I like to get my paws on that fetish for a couple days.

On the plus side, Charlene and Emma seemed to hit it off well. I sort of promoted the whole pack concept Emma had and talked it up more and Charlene definitely seems interested in packing with Emma. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a potential 3rd.

We packed it in and I let Emma drive my car--need a name for it--out to Kent Crossing. She ambushed me on the car ride with the observation that Charlene had been flirting with me earlier in the park and a pointed question if I was batting for the other team and if she should send guys my way. I told her I didn't feel comfortable dating garou because it's not an equitable relationship: kin always have to cave and give in lest they be killed, and I'd hate having to constantly silence my opinions. I also said I'd tried dating plain old humans, but that I had to keep all these secrets about the garou--where were you last night, what happened to our vacation fund money, I don't like your scary friends, etc.--that it felt dishonest and the relationships never lasted. So I've been (except for a couple one-night-stands) pretty monk-like this past year. She empathized, etc, and... It was a /good/ talk and I told her I was definitely attracted to her and would have asked her out long ago if she'd been kin instead of garou. She mentioned Friends With Benefits. (God damn, tempting.) Finally I just pulled the Magic 8-ball out of the glove box, did a quickie effect with it, and handed it to her to shake and read me the response--without her knowing the question. The question I'd posed was "Would it be a good idea to tell Emma I'm a warper?" The results Emma got were ":Reply Hazy" a second "Reply Hazy" and then a "Most Likely." That was not a very solid answer. It sounded like Fate was responding to my question with," Well. Hmm. Let me see. Hmmm. Well... Hmmm. I /guess/ it might be okay?" I might have chanced it if the blow-back would only hurt me, but Mouse and Salem are covering for me: I can't let shit blow back on them over... my own personal life.

Well, fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck.

Later that night, as I was about to call it a day, I dropped by Edgewood with more groceries. Ran into an Uktena, Reggie, who looked pretty damn messed up. Ahroun. (That explains it.) Asked about the cargo van note, thought it was a great idea, then said I'd done good and was smart. Wow. That made me feel kind of good, actually. Thomas and Keir later showed up, Reggie left, and I started asking questions of Keir. I remember he had a fetish that he'd used previously to get to a fight with that Eastern Fomori that Rajani had been after. A fetish that lets a blind garou cross over. I asked a series of questions designed to get to reveal that he had a fetish that allowed him to cross over, then I asked if I could see it, and HE GAVE ME IT TO HOLD. OMGYES! (Had a Chimera spirit in it. For some reason, Chimera spirits keep turning up around me. Coincidence?) Thomas... I think he was a little nervous I was going to make a break for it or suck the fetish dry or something, but I was very respectful. Only gave it a quick looking over to see what it was and briefly examine the magical structure/nature of it. Then I gave it back good as new. In return, I rigged up a target for Keir (bluetooth earpiece taped to a dinner plate and playing music from my smartphone), gave him some quick pointers with how to use my concealed carry, and he managed to hit the plate once and nick it another time. Not bad for a young, blind werewolf. He was thrilled. (Good thing he was satisfied with the 5-shot clip. I have a second, and I'm glad no one mentioned it, but that one's got silver bullets in it nestled under that first normal round. Huh. I really need to evaluate the wisdom of carrying silver munitions. I'll ask Salem about it.) Thomas later seemed impressed at how nice I was to the kid.

Maybe, but I wasn't nice to one of the dinner plates. I'm going to have to go buy a set of 4 new ones as contrition for letting Keir shoot one of the old ones from Edgewood. Hope no one tells Dagny and she just appreciates the new set when it arrives.

Keir seems nice. I'll mention him to Emma as someone she might want to talk to see if he'd be future packmate material. In fact, I'm going to send her a text right now.
