I was at the Marina yesterday, oogling some of the nicer boats. Man, I miss the freedom to move about at the drop of a hat. I'm not knocking my cabin or regretting that purchase at all, but.... Sometimes I just get the urge to be untethered. Ah, well. I've got the Winnebago if I need a change of scenery--or to flee.
Nieve happened to be passing by, also apparently drawn to the water or boats. Full moon out, but she said she's one of the Garou who's safer(ish) during that time. She did seem to be well in control of herself. Good to know in the event I need to communicate with a member of the tribe during the fuller moons.
We did some talking and it turns out that the cats took back the Lucent Witness fetish, so Nieve was regrounding herself now that she was no longer guarding the artifact. (Drat. I'd have liked to have gotten a chance to physically touch and examine that artifact up close rather than eyeballing it through the umbra from afar. Note to self: it might be a hoot to 'haunt' an artifact or place from afar in the future--wig the garou out a bit and have a little fun. Wow, is it a good thing I'm not a giant fan of practical jokes. I really could have milked that situation.) We got to talking. Found out that Nieve spent most of her life in St. Louis, and she considers that to be her 'home.' despite being here in St. Claire. I expressed concern about the upcoming attempt to reclaim the caern and how I was afraid Mouse might die, leaving the tribe without a solid leader, which might lead to a decline and the lack of cohesion like I'd seen earlier when Mouse'd left for half a year to learn a ritual for re-awakening the caern. Nieve seemed confident Mouse would survive, but Mouse doesn't seem to share the same confidence. Bleh.
Nieve noticed I'd not traveled to other septs to see how the Walkers at other places operated, and she suggested that she might contact Mouse to arrange for me to go on a tour of a variety of septs. I protested, but she persisted. Personally? I'm curious. However, I'm reluctant to take Nieve up on the offer because I'm sure I'd get inspected and scrutinized every time I went to a new sept, and that might blow my cover. Also? I don't feel entirely comfortable knowing about the location of multiple other caerns and safehouses. I feel like I'd be taking advantage of the tribe by learning about things that are simply not pertinent to my existence here in St. Claire. After Nieve left, I sent Mouse an e-mail explaining the situation, that Nieve might contact her, and a couple excuses she could offer to turn down Nieve's suggestion--if she bothers to even make it. I made it pretty clear I was not comfortable with visiting other septs, so Nieve may just drop it completely. I hope.
