On New Year's Eve, I drove out to Emma's mother's place, belatedly gave Emma her xmas present (a decent-quality surround sound system), and installed it for her family. I thought it'd be a good gift because Emma could use it and, when she was away, her mom and daughter could use it, too. There was another girl present, but I forgot her name. Young. About 6-8-ish years old. Daughter to someone named Signe, another Get, who Emma seems to have a lot of respect for. Emma--and her family (and company)--were thrilled with the surround sound and... God help me, "Thor" DVD again. Ugh. Although, honestly, it's probably akin to my near-worship of Star Wars. That evening, Emma and I headed back to St. Clair. I'd gotten tickets/reservations for a New Year's Eve party with dinner and dancing and a countdown to midnight. It was a fun time. Unfortunately, due to getting so little sleep recently, I had to call it quits shortly after midnight and get her home before I ended up asleep at the wheel.

Most of the rest of the week I spent holed up in my Sanctum experimenting with magnetism and electromagnetism. Interesting stuff that I honestly have not spent enough time with. And it's so pervasive, too. Easy to access and convert into some other kind of energy.

Saturday night, on my way back to my cabin, I pulled off the road on the east side of the river near the WalMart. Took a walk up the shoreline looking about for anything that might be amiss and could be reported back to Riley or Clarice for their Otter pack. (Otter is concerned about preserving waterways.) I ran into Mr. Lee working his way south while I was headed north. He was doing parkour--although less parkour and more just working on moving fluidly and rapidly. We chatted a bit. I asked the kitsune "what does the fox say?" and then had to explain the joke to him. We talked about how Duke was coming along--slowly but surely--and how unusual it was that the garou were permitting a cub to be raised by a kitsune. And the dangers involved. We talked shop a little, with Mr. Lee explaining he was useful at spying, infiltration, and assassination. I explained I was good at creating defensive measures by countering or redirecting kinetic and thermal energies. Mr. Lee observed that we tended to compliment one another, as I wasn't good with offense whereas he wasn't very good with defense.
