Slept in laaaaate today (at the Tenement again) so I'd have the energy to do some magick tonight. Got up after noon, read a couple articles on theoretical spacial geometry, and then double-checked what I'd sensed with that dagger the other day--just in case I was misreading things or screwed something up. Nope. Doesn't look like I did. Drove home, but stopped at the store on the way there. They had a two for one sale on these cheap-ass brands of frozen pizzas and french fries, so I cleaned them out and took the haul over to the farmhouse. Dumped it off in the fridge. Ran into Thomas, Javid, Sue (hadn't seen him in a long while), and later Moros.
Sue mentioned he'd just had a successful totem quest with his pack, which consisted of Sue, Maddie, Topsy, Kevin, and Reggie. They've got Swan as a totem spirit. (Seriously? Swan? That's kind of weird. Granted I know nothing about swan spirits, but.... I wonder if they're going to call the pack "The Ugly Ducklings?"
Javid.... Javid makes me nervous after that thing at the tenement. I asked if I should go when he showed up. He said no. I asked him if he'd meant the things he'd said at the tenement about the Walkers that day (essentially that they could all go to hell), and he said he meant it at the time, but he didn't now--and that he had some temper issues. I'll just take extra special care when he's around. I asked him about the book he was reading, and it was some old book on poetry. Moros showed up about then (he is HUGE and GREASY and smells something awful), then told Javid to read a poem. Javid did. It was weird, but I've never liked poetry. I'd rather read a book or article that explains how plants grow as opposed to a poem that describes how beautiful a bloom is. I decided to cut and run at this point, because it was just me and Javid and Moros lingering about in the kitchen and I was feeling distinctly uncomfortable.
Went home, restocked my own fridge with the better-quality stuff I buy for myself, and gave myself some time to just unwind tucked in on the couch playing some video games on the xbox. Hey. Even busy mages need the occasional bit of downtime. (And then I took another nap.)
I was up again at 11pm. Drove out to the tenement, took the unregistered white cargo van I hooked the Walkers up with the other year, and parked it about a block from Naomi's place. I crawled into the back into the sleeping bag I'd brought, reached out with my senses to spy on her in her apartment, and then invaded her dreams once she fell asleep. Initially I just observed, doing some subtle guidance so she relived a lot of past events. There was a caged wolf going bonkers that she couldn't see--constant through the whole thing. Clearly her subconscious manifestation of her wolf aspect. I set it free to see what she'd do if she reclaimed her birthright in her dreams. She ran about like mad and then looked into a stream's reflection and *POOF!* woke up. I got dumped from the dream. Hard. It was pretty disorientating. I gave her about an hour and a half (it was about 3am by then) to go back to sleep, then re-invaded her dreams. This time I didn't let the wolf out. I became the wolf. Popped over and materialized across from her while she was whittling a hunk of wood by a campfire. Then just talked to her using her own voice--and in English. (It's a dream. If I want to teleport about, materialize as a wolf, and talk with a female voice, I can do that.) I asked her a few questions. Basically checking to make sure that she was still bating for the Gaian Glass Walkers instead of a spy. She's 100% on board. So I told her that Mouse was her only hope and to do anything Mouse said. Basically? I think Naomi pretty much worships Mouse right now. I left Naomi to what was left of her dreams and drove back to the tenement. Crashed there again.
I could feel the paradox building when I laid down. Then it hit. Bleeding out my nose and ears and eyes. (The eyes are the worst, even though that's the least of the bloodflow.) Migraine. I can't sleep (even though I'm tired). And reality--to me--seems to be 1' further to the left and 3" lower than it actually is. Grrr. God, I hope this burns off fast. And I hope the Walkers all leave me alone in my room while this is happening.
I hate mucking about inside people's heads like that, but.... It needed to be done to protect the tribe and see if Naomi would be a threat if her wolf were restored. It still feels like rape.
