Had an idea a few days ago. With all these Suits hanging around recently, it seemed like a good idea for people to use burner phones. I scrounged eBay, found someone selling bulk burner phones for a little over half the $9/phone that WalMart charges, and I bought 30-minute airtime cards for each. Charged them all up, set up the calling card info on the, got the number for each phone established, used a label maker to put the phone numbers on each of the flip phones' shells, and viola! I left a bucket of them at Edgewood and in the Tenement lobby. That should help make it easier for people to communicate privately and reduce the odds of people getting busted and having others tracked back via phone numbers. Knock on wood.
While dropping the phones off at Edgewood, I ran into Thomas and Emma talking about Duke and trying to get him to cross over into the spirit world (because garou cubs should do this as part of their training and because Emma thinks a spirit might be able to assess Duke's auspice, which is currently unknown because he has no clue what his birthday is). They anticipated there being a substantial amount of difficulty in getting the cub across, so I offered to thin the distance between worlds for Emma--and then told Thomas that she knew about me, so it was okay. I think Emma and Thomas were a little surprised I could do something like that. We decided to just see if Duke had any luck on his own before I bothered giving an assist. I was headed out to drop off burner phones at the Tenement next, asked Emma if she needed a lift into town, and that turned into a trip to an art museum, dinner, and back to my cabin that evening.
Life is good. I haven't had anything but one or two night stands in the last 4 years. I enjoy being in a longer-term relationship.
After Emma left, I found myself restless. More research into geometrical limits as values approach infinity or zero. I feel like I'm close to something, but it continues to elude me. I got frustrated, went for a drive, and ended up at a rock shop. Lots of nicely polished rocks. Some glassworks. But the things that interested me most? Meteorite fragments and chunks of fossilized mammoth ivory--both from Russia. I bought some of each. I've spent a lot of my time since then just sitting in a chair on my porch, looking into the woods, and absorbing the sensations of the smooth ivory tusk between my fingers. I find myself dwelling upon the animal the tusk fragment came from. What the animal did. What the animal would be if it were not extinct today. Wouldn't it be interesting to go back in time and look at it? Feel its thoughts? Sense the pre-Industrial world and wilderness? Maybe some other time: too busy right now to be working that kind of iffy and time-consuming research.
My fingers and palms are burning and itching again. I need to get to the spirit world soon and cut loose with some truly vulgar magic to satisfy that particular urge. Something very violent.
...
Where the hell did that urge coming from?
