Riley came to visit Friday morning before dawn. She called first, which was greatly appreciated. She looked like shit and clearly wasn't sleeping. What's keeping her up? Fear. Although I wouldn't say that to her face, it's clearly fear. She's afraid Silvertip is going to kill her for murdering his packmate years ago. Finds-Death. The Red Talon who killed entire families at random in the city. She wanted to know if I could make her a talen or something along those lines so Silvertip couldn't use a gift to force-choke her and beat her to death against a tree. (Coincidentally, Riley, when she was talking to me about protection from Silvertip, was sitting in the exact same spot Silvertip had been sitting in a few days earlier I told her that charms/talens are not my area of expertise, and I doubted I could make anything that would protect her from an athro ahroun. And that I wouldn't make anything that could be used in an offensive capacity, especially if it might be used on another garou from this sept. I did offer to acquire something akin to Google Glasses for her--something wearable that could call me and stream video so I could work defensive magicks to protect Riley. She declined, saying that that would probably get me in trouble if Riley ever used it. She said Silvertip is smart enough to put two and two together. She's probably right. Before she left (and I offered to let her crash at my place because I wasn't sure she ought to be driving in her state), she also asked if I was going to be taking a look at the Suits. I told her I planned to do a little Dreamwalking soon to see what was up there.

I couldn't go back to sleep afterwards. (Well, I lie. I could have forced myself to sleep with a bit of Mind magick, but I didn't feel like forcing myself.) I made breakfast, read a little, then got in the car to go find a place where I could watch the sun come up over the mountains. (The pines around my cabin obscure the sunrise and sunset). I ended up going to the nearby farmhouse afterwards on the off chance that Emma would be around at interested in brunch. No luck. I did run into Slug in the garage. Then Salem and X came by. (Note to self: check the loft in the garage before talking about anything sensitive.) We talked about the Suits. I think the garou have hit a wall. It might be time to do that Dreamwalk sooner rather than Later. What we know? The Suits are looking for a Rat God or its followers. The Suits are focusing on the homeless. (I bet they've had luck finding Bone Gnawers in the past.) The Suits are different from The Doctors (according to X, so I'm taking this with a HUGE chunk of sodium dichloride). The Suits are willing to fight with supernatural things. The Suits did not call for backup in dealing with a Supernatural thing, so they might (MIGHT) be the muscle for this operation. The Suits are injecting people with drugs, possibly as a means of enhancing interrogations. X escaped from the Doctors by sheer luck. The Doctors (and Suits?) are immune to the Delirium. Slug was tracked down by agents who did not seem to expect to locate a garou--they stopped for coffee just prior to pursuing him into the sewers.

Slug and Salem got into a discussion about Slug packing with him. Emma is also joining Sagacity provided that The Oracle (the pack totem) accepts her. Huh. Sounds like a powerful pack, but what do I know? I called Emma, got voicemail, and left a message. Then I went home to take a nap and think.
I awoke with an interesting idea that might help Riley out: a good luck charm. I dug up my old Nintendo Mario Brother's video game watch, used a little Matter to reshape a lucky penny (tass) into a shape that would fit in where the dead battery was, and tied the battery in with an Entropy good luck charm and some Prime to link the effect to the new battery. Push a button, instant burst of luck. (Heck, it might even automatically trigger itself in a life-or-death situation.) Not a big bundle of luck, but a little. And attuned to be defensive rather than offensive to give it a bit more oomph in that department. The effect won't last but for a few seconds, and the battery is going to wear out in about a month's time. But it's something that might help Riley sleep a little better and feel more at ease.

Plus she can now play that really old and crappy Mario game knockoff.
