A couple days ago, after I decided Slug hadn't been the one who'd Dreamwalked Silvertip, I'd put in a call to Val--who had just left town. It went to voicemail and I'd left a vaguely worded message. If she was the dreamwalker, she'd know precisely what I was talking about. Friday evening I found a voicemail from Val's number. It wasn't Val, though. It was her mom. Lots of vague wording in her response to my earlier call, but the long and short of it is that Val seems like the "meant to do well" culprit and she has been cleansed of the resulting taint. Good. That solves that. For me, at least. I texted a nice, vague message to Salem to let him know that one of the problems he had cooking on the stove was done could be removed. (I bet that made him happy, even if I provided no background or explanation.) I imagine Silvertip is still chomping at the bit. I had no idea how to get word to that Uktena luddite. Or did I?

The moon has gotten bright, so I  opted to cross over to the spirit world to work some magic. Once there, I got a fire going, then sat down to meditate a little, extending my consciousness up and outwards via Correspondence magic. I let my senses take in the spirits in the area before moving onwards--none of the spirits near my cabin seemed suitable. I spent some time spying down on the umbral landscape until I located a small bear spirit. ("Small" being a relative term.) I tapped the campfire's energy and reshaped it over distance with Correspondence and Forces--creating the illusion of a brown-robed figure like I'd done earlier in a botched attempt to mislead Silvertip when we'd first met as garou and warper. I also pulled in a Mind effect so I could communicate directly with the bear spirit rather than... Frankly, I just can't speak their language. But I can tap into their mental energies, which bypasses the language barrier.

I gave the bear spirit a proverbial tap on the shoulder to get its attention. After it decided "not a threat" I (or rather the robed illusion) told it I was looking for a local bear spirit, Neryarta, who affiliated with a garou called Little Silvertip. I had an urgent message for the garou. Would it help? It agreed--seemingly knowing who I was talking about--and I gave it the message: "The Jedi says your stolen dream has been found and dealt with." There. That should help Silvertip realize the threat is no more. It does nothing about pointing a finger as to who was responsible, but I don't want Silvertip pissed off at Val. She was, after all, trying to help. (... By gently mind-raping him, but I certainly can't throw stones there considering what I did to Eddy a couple months ago.) When/if Silvertip asks about who did it later, I guess I'll get to see how far saying "I'm not sharing that information with you" gets me instead of bending the truth about--like Val recommended and Silvertip claims to prefer.

Spirit messenger dispatched, I still had half the night left to work on Correspondence magic. Except, judging from what Pavel said, I was likely barking up the wrong tree by studying ancient and theoretical mathematics. So fuck it. I decided to just work magick for the sheer joy of working magic. I reached out to grasp and manipulate gravity itself, bending it to my will like I've done in the past, and... Nothing. Huh. Well, that does happen sometimes. Every now and then a juggler drops the ball. I spent a good hour examining why I failed. I think it was lack of focus and distractedness. I took a brief 15-minute walk around the umbral clearing to refocus and clear my head, and then I reached out a second time to manipulate gravity over a chunk of the clearing. This time it worked. I could feel gravity lessening as I redirected and displaced it. (Some of the spirits seemed a little confused.) Once I was sure the effect was stabilized--and realizing I was floating a good 5' off the ground already--I redirected the gravity to throw myself upwards through the air. My stomach lurched at the sudden acceleration, and then I was in freefall--but freefalling in the direction I chose to have gravity operating. I am positive I reached speeds well over 100MPH judging by the passing ground and the wind in my face. (Note to self: bring safety goggles/glasses next time.) I've been skydiving before, and I've also practiced at those indoor skydiving things, so I was familiar with the sensation of what I was doing and could direct/control my "fall". /Nowhere/ near as acrobatic as Val, but for straight-line speed? Yes, please!

I flew for probably 15 minutes or so, never getting too high or too low, before coming back in for a landing. I'd like to say that it was a graceful landing and that I had thought ahead about that sort of thing, but.... I basically ended up throwing myself at the ground. My attire is permanently stained by the grass and I've got some bruising and scratches and bumps, but nothing is broken. I'm going to spend some time at home, on the couch, tending to my injuries and contemplating landings a little more.
