Text from Emma to Nick:
"Hey. Drove Mouse into town today. Spent some time talking about things. She knows that I know about you. And knows about us being an us. Hard to read what her take was on that. I'll be back at the cabin tonight. Think we can pull off another night or two? ;) TTYL. (See what I learned today?)"
Text from Nick to Emma:
"I bet we could squeeze something in over the next couple days. Repeatedly. See you tonight!"
30 minutes later, Mouse unexpectedly appeared at the door. Unannounced. I might have been irritable about that, except she's been gone for ages and likely wants--if not needs--to catch up. I let it slide.
Mouse shared that she and Sewell had worked with the Cyber Wolves (a collection garou (mostly) and spirits (to a lesser extent)), who dwell in the Cyberrealm. They dealt less in power/juice/tass and more in tasks. I didn't ask what those tasks were and Mouse didn't immediately volunteer them. End results? Sewell opted to remain with the Cyber Wolves (hadn't expected that) and Mouse returned with the fetish cyber-spine she now has grafted to her. There are tradeoffs, though. When the cybernetic component is active, she can walk and move about as if she doesn't have her spinal injury and birth defect--but she loses fine sensation in her fingers. She can turn the fetish off and on, though. So there's that. Additionally, it seems to enhance one of the Walker's gifts that allows them to control electronics. That could be very useful in the upcoming rescue op with Naomi. She offered to show he cyberspine to me, but I informed her I'd already seen it. (Warpers: we roll like that sometimes.) And I assured Mouse that she was still Mouse, insofar as I could tell by scanning her with magick.
Then I told Mouse about my much shorter journey to meet up with some other wizards to swap stuff. I showed her my cougar ring, and she seemed impressed/interested--and offered to go running with me in the future. (I think she's thrilled to be able to run again.) I mentioned parkour, and she apparently hadn't even though so much about those possibilities. She mentioned that there had been a young boy several years ago, when I'd left for San Fran, who seemed to possess a trinket that allowed him to shapeshift into a wolf. She thought he might be a young mage, or merely in possession of an artifact somehow. The kid had been sent to NYC, to Mouse's parents. Mouse said she'd look that up for me. If he's a mage, that's something I ought to address. If he's a human in possession of a Mage artifact? You know, I'd hate to take it away from him, but... that might be for the best. Or perhaps not? I honestly don't know. I'd have to learn more.
Mouse ducked out before Emma arrived. I think she wolfed it here and back, enjoying her newly rediscovered ability to move hard and fast without pain. I'm really happy for her.
Meanwhile, Emma came over and spent the night, and a good time was had by all. I hope my recent transition to a meatless diet isn't a problem. I'm happy to cook her beef or chicken or fish or whatever while I eat fruits, grains, and vegetables. I'm not doing the vegan thing, though. I like cheese and dishes that require eggs too much to do that.
I spent all of May 7th doing work for Terminus and provoking LOLcat to move so I could further study how he moves. The ring, I noticed, felt different. Fuller. I think it just recovered from that charge I'd used two weeks ago. The moon is getting brighter. This might be an ideal opportunity to get out there and play at being a cougar again, soon. I wonder... I wonder if I can work magick still as a cougar? I can't see why not, but you never really know until you give it a shot.
