Pre-Great Hunt activities
I forgot to mention that before the Great Hunt, that morning, I dropped by the farmhouse with a load of isopropyl alcohol and wound wrap bandages. I didn't know if it's even useful at all to garou, but maybe it is a little? And Slug (who was there ate the time with a new cub, Justin) said it would help. He might have just been acting nice, though. Justin, the new Gnawer cub, is big into tinkering with stuff. He'd made a potato gun and a PVC air conditioner and was thinking about a water purification deal. (Do garou even need something like that? Don't they drink out of streams and whatnot all the time?) Justin didn't seem to grasp the magnitude of the danger the sept was in. Not at first, at least. I gave him one of the disposable cells, told him my number, and told him that if the sept fell and he was able to get away, to call me and I'd come pick him up and take him elsewhere to hide. I should probably make that offer to the sept. I do have the Winnebago. (And in the back of my mind, there's that voice screaming that this is not my responsibility.)
I also gave Slug my extra bulletproof vest, which I'd infused with Prime energies, to give to Emma for the Hunt. I hope she wears it.
And then the Great Hunt happened, but I already covered that in my last entry.
Mon, June 23--Seeing an Uktena about some black sludge and an iron collar.
Silvertip invited me over to her new abode to look at something. It's a cave she's dug out, with the help of two earth elementals and "the mountain moving." It's not done yet. I pointed out the irony of her digging into the earth and removing rock and stone to make a place while I was contemplating using rock and stone to build a tower towards the sky. Inadvertent symbolism? I have no idea. I got to look at two things: an bottle of black sludge and an iron collar taken from one of the Spirals killed during the Great Hunt.
The bottle of black fluid was.... slippery. And complex. The 10-second summary? Think anti-matter, except more capable. The fluid can eat matter, spirit, life, time itself.... It's less anti-matter and more anti-reality. Possibly liquid Entropy? But not quite. It's also the fluid that was in the BSDs and the tree-monster from the Great Hunt, and Silvertip said she'd also seen it at a supposedly haunted house here in town. So it's popping up in a few places. I wonder if there's a connection to the riots?
The iron collar was strong but mundane. It had some interesting psychic resonance, though. Like the BSD it was clamped onto hadn't accepted it willingly at first, but later stopped struggling. (The effect of the fluid being introduced to the BSD?) There was also a ring on the collar, which was clearly designed for a heavy chain to go through. Prisoners? Slaves? I don't know.
Silvertip gave me both the black liquid and the iron collar. I wonder if I should make a trip out to see Pavel and get his thoughts on this liquid. Or, perhaps, I should just put out some inquiries to the mages I know to see if they've seen or heard of something similar? Raul over in Seattle, the Euthanatos, he or his Tradition might know something of use. And he's much closer than Pavel.
