nick_garou: Cougar (Cougar)
After the wards were up, I took a nap, got up, stuffed myself silly with peanuts and high-protein, high-calorie vegetarian food, waited for that to get pushed down, and then ate half a tub of peanut butter. (Gluh.) Caloried up, LOLcat shut into the downstairs bathroom with his litter changed and food/water dispensers topped off, downstairs window opened, I used my ring talisman to turn into a cougar. Then, promptly, I sprawled out on the downstairs futon and took a loooooong nap.

I got up just as the sun was setting, slipped outside, and made my way off towards the Walker's forested territory. But then I wanted to go exploring a bit, spying on people--it seems like something a cougar might do--and my roaming took me over towards the ruined series of buildings some distance away from the Hermitage. I smelled cigarette smoke in the air--pungent as hell in this form with such heightened senses--and eased a little closer as I heard voices talking. Val. And Slug. I waited a little, unsure if they'd heard me approach--didn't seem like it despite my not being very good at woodcraft--and so I came closer after doing a little Magely Mind-Speak with Val and clearing it with her. Snapped some branches and twigs on purpose. Then announced myself as Brings-the-Pack, Pumonca. Slug didn't wig out, but I hadn't expected him to either. Val seemed nervous. Can't blame her. Her birdie instincts  were probably all AHHHHH! inside.

Val seemed like she was ready to move on, said her farewells, and then disappeared. No. /DISAPPEARED./ Poof. Not there at all. Teleportation? I looked back a few seconds in time to analyze what had just happened. Spirit-Correspondence magic that whisked her away at a very high velocity. Teleportation, I suspect. Or something very similar. Impressive. She must have learned a new gift--seemed like she was showing off  a little.

Slug and I conversed a short while. Nothing weighty or of importance. He did demonstrate his keen powers of observation. He also mentioned he was going to be trying to talk to some ratkin. Ugh. Memories of that snotty-nosed ratkin that snuck onto my sailboat when I had it anchored out in the river--going through my stuff. After I got her off, I used some magic to have a board weaken, scuttling the sailboat. Collected the insurance. Bought a houseboat instead. Relocated. Haven't seen her since. Thank god. I hope all ratkin aren't as creepy and gross.

After I departed, I altered my course a bit, later walking through a stream to hide my scent in case Slug wanted to follow, and leapt out and onto a thick overhanging tree branch about a mile upstream. (Seriously. Jumping as a cougar? It's freaking ridiculous at how far I can leap--even without the use of magic.) I did a few more things to try and shake anyone who might be trying to tail me, and then I headed on over to the Silent Valley--Walker forest territory--to spend the night running about the vicinity and generally being a giant idiot.

I had a lot of fun. My soul needed this.
